With all these wins against WIAC teams, hopefully two strong MWC teams emerge in the conference season and we get two good teams in the NCAA this year.  With both LU and Carroll beating UWSP, and now SNC beating Plattville, its showing the top of the MWC can pretty much play with any conference this year.

by my count the MWC is 4-4 (and one loss was in overtime) vs the WIAC and not by playing the "easy" schools in the WIAC

I would wait until the end of the season before I get too excited about these wins. Nice to have them yes but nobody has received a Pool A because of them. The MWC is improving and figures to have 3 or 4 "NCAA worthy" teams but getting 2 in will always be a tall task as the bottom half drags their alphabet soup selection criteria ratings down.

When you look at the years the MWC has had 2 in it was because those 2 dominated the conference. *1989. However it's not as easy to dominate the conference as it used to be.

I don't think there has ever been a question of the top of the MWC being able to compete with other leagues.  Even if the wins don't match the losses vs. the WIAC, there have always been some tough games.  LU and Carroll have shown they are tourney teams in the past.  I said two years ago when they got Grzesh (sp?) from Lakeland that St. Norb's would be a player sooner than later.  They've beaten Platteville and Oshkosh.

On the other hand, Roop is right.  In a 5 game series, I still truly believe Point and Platteville would beat Carroll and St. Norb's.  But, they are big steps and it gives the MWC some national exposure.  They are also big wins come tourney time because of the "point system" the NCAA uses.

Congrats to LU, Carroll and St. Norb's for toppling the WIAC's best, but it's not even January yet!

Old School:

Point just didn't work hard enough on defense to stop Carroll.  Hoch and Ladwig, the smallest players on the floor for Carroll, had their way in driving to the paint or on the baseline.   For whatever reason, after tossing inside to Beamish with success in the first half, Point abandoned that in the second.

Point should be better, especially defensively, than they've been against LU and Carroll.   Or they are very overrated.  I'll leave that to Roop to decide.

WOW. titan2000 is back. Must be a Huber Law thing. What were you in for anyway ?? LMAO.

Nobody knows how to play defense anymore as drives and baseline plays go uncontested these days. Too much NBA defense in D3 right now and that applies to most everybody.

But my reason for posting is that I'm watching a semi enjoyable DII womens game. Arkansas Tech @Montevello. The webcast has some issues but one feature I particularly like is the picture in picture view of the scoreboard. One half court camera works fine, put the other one on the scoreboard is my advice to the MWC crews.

More people on the court than in the stands so I'm guessing the GSC doesn't draw well.

I'm tentatively planning to make the drive up to Iowa Saturday to see Wheaton and Grinnell. Anyone going to be there?

George Bush told me I could go home now that we have most of the TARP allocated, and frankly, our work is done.  We saved a small allocation for the MWC in the event that Beloit College goes into bankruptcy and can't afford diesel for the bus to Appleton.

Yeah, I'll have to email Jeff and see if he's around.  The Roopacino's not my cup of tea, but every baked good I've ever tried at the Rest has been spectacular.

Al Gore must have told you to say that but I'm not biting on your invitation to talk about global warming. Even though I probably should.

Sorry Hoops but I doubt that I can make it to Grinnell this weekend. The System was hitting on all cylinders when the circus came to Beloit so it could be a long day for the Wheaties.
