Roop:

I believe in the 3 way tie breaker, the performance against the entire group is considered, so if LU and the Circus win out, and SNC beats Carroll, then the 3 way tie scenario means LU hosts as they are 2-1 (.667) against those teams as the Circus 1-1 (.500) and SNC is 1-2 (.333).

LU loses the two way tie breaker with the Circus based on the loss at Alex earlier this season.  I couldn't be a bigger SNC fan right now. And LU still has to beat America's team.

I talked to a fan who was at Alex yesterday and apparently the same crew that did the LU/Circus game on 2/1 worked yesterday's game.  The LU students were at their best again.  When Drew Shaw went to the table to check in, an LU student yelled to the ref to remind him to get his technical called right away as SNC had a shooter at the line already.  I thought that was cute.  Wish I could have seen it.

Correct.  You would think Roop would have known that by now, but he must have been too busy running the New Roop Order to avoid reading my tie-breaker breakdowns over the last week and a half....

Its ok, el Rooparino...

I'll have a new Road to Alex preview post in the AM....

If chosen for #2 (before Larry_U rudely jumped in before I was done), imagine the ad revenue that The Roop could bring in...  Every hunting supply mechant and taxidermist throughout the tri-state region and parts of Canada would be represented, at least.   :o
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

First thing I would need to do is scuttle the plans for a boat house on the river, whether it's a joint venture with the city or not. Crew is simply not going to attract the advertising revenue like an archery, sporting clays or bass fishing team would. Beloit would join Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin in the Collegiate Bass Anglers Association Great Lakes Conference.

There are several DIIIs with Bass Fishing teams in the area but I don't want the hassle of a limited number of tournaments for the year and in region criteria to determine post season selections. It's still a 5 pound bass whether it was caught 198 miles away or 203 miles away.

Not sure a sporting clays team is PC enough to ever be accepted at Beloit but I could probably get an archery team going.

Roop:

Possibly you could have the team travel with the Beloit fencing team to reduce costs.  And while the basketball team heads south for a winter trip, these teams could visit Northern WI and spear/shoot walleyes to prepare for the spring season.

New pickem is up..games start WEDNESDAY:

Conference Tournament watch 2009: Otherwise known as Taco Johns?  Alex Popcorn?  De Pere...really??

Standings as of 2/16/09

SNC 12-3
GC 12-3
LU 11-3
CU 10-4

Games remaining:
SNC: CU
CU:  RC, @SNC
GC:  @MC
LU:  BC, @ RC

The 4 way tie @ 12-4 is still possible, but not looking likely.

SNC would have to lose to CU
CU would have to win @ SNC and beat RC
GC would have to lose @ MC
LU would have to go 1-1 in their last 2.

In that case if all 4 teams tied at 12-4 Head to head would be:
SNC 1-0 vs GC, 1-1 vs CU, 0-2 Vs LU
CU  2-0 vs GC, 1-1 vs SNC, 1-1 vs LU
GC 0-1 vs SNC 0-2 Vs CU, 1-0 Vs LU
LU 2-0 vs SNC, 1-1 vs CU 0-1 vs GC

This is Carroll's only way of hosting the tournament.

For St. Norbert to host: They need a win over Carroll, and a loss by Lawrence
For Grinnell to host:  They need a win @Monmouth and a loss by St. Norbert
For Lawrence to host:  They need to win out, and have St. Norbert beat Carroll, or win out and have both St. Norbert and Grinnell lose

4 way tie @ 12-4= Carroll hosts
3 way tie @ 13-3= Lawrence hosts
2 way tie @ 13-3 between LU and SNC= LU hosts
2 way tie @ 13-3 between GC and LU =GC hosts
2 way tie @ 13-3 with SNC and GC= SNC hosts

I went to Taco Johns in Appleton yesterday just to prepare myself in the event that result occurs.   While I enjoyed the Taco Bravo, the potato oles were a little greasy.  I was given the proper items and I found them to be a good value.  ;)

I am considering calling Coach DePagter and asking him if LU would allow Taco Johns to be the team sponsor of our game vs Americas Team on Wednesday.   Might get LU some good karma, and some tasty vittles in the locker room after the game.

How often does this happen that none of the four teams control their own destiny? Everyone needs to win and something else to happen to allow them to host.

Potato Ole's have to be greasy in order for the seasonings to stick. Otherwise they'd be called hashrounds and you can get them at BurgerKing in the morning.

No fencing for Beloit. No Crew for Beloit. Bass Fishing would be a Club Sport and the sponsors are welcome to contribute all they want. Not many rules in the ACA or CBAA and that's why I like them both. Club Sports always fly under the radar anyway so I'm looking forward to all the under the table money coming my way.

Beloit typically doesn't draw enough Native Americans to make a spearing team legal so I will put that one on the back burner.

That and Beloit is well outside the ceded territory so a spearing team wouldn't be legal anyway.

Actually I could do that if the homeland security act would stand back and allow some family members to go back into business.

Roop:

You coming to Alex Wednesday to support America's Team?

Seating at the Wooden Nickel is at a premium but there should be plenty of seats with not enough popcorn at Alex.

I'd like to but vehicle issues prohibit it.

According to the Abegg projections on the front page:

http://d3blogs.com/d3hoops/2009/02/16/the-abegg-projections/

The MWC isn't remotely close to getting a 2nd team in this year.  Its win or go home for everyone the rest of the season....
