Quotep.s.  Okay, Scots4:  Didn't you use that BM line on the football board?  Somebody did.  Remember to observe the one quote per sport per season rule....

That was me Scottie, but as Krusty the Clown once said, "If this is anyone but Steve Allen, you are stealing my bit."

The quote appropriate on both accounts.   ;D

Thanks Scottie, I was gunning for some double entendre action.

QuoteI completely forgot about that. I watched it on HBO or Encore or one of those stations the other night and it stuck with me. Forgive me for the blatant plagiarism and academic dishonestly. I stand before you a humble man.

Scots...please sit, as I was pointing out, I was merely the original thief   :)

The person I would like to stand up and reveal themselves is whoever has been blasting my karma the last few days. Have I been too hard on the LU announcers ??? :D

IC at Carroll has to be the spotlight game of the night. IC seems pretty good and can make a statement that it is finally ready to return to the MWC tourney fold with a win tonight. Any coach would kill for a split on a road University (CU/LU) weekend.

St. Norbert has solidified themselves as a bona fide MWC contender, while I don't think we know exactly what Ripon is yet. With that being said, I think Monmouth could sneak out of Wisconsin 2-0 just as easily as they could leave 0-2.

We should get a few questions answered on Friday and Saturday.

Let the games begin!

The Roop

Speculate all you want but mine were the first picks in. I still do not understand why they even bother to play the games this weekend; and Tuesday. Well maybe because Old School "might" make it to Beloit tonight to see "Americas Team" for the first time.

The traveling call is non-existent in the Monmouth-Ripon game.

Scots4

Monmouth up 35-23 at halftime.

Ripon is offensively challenged. Monmouth playing a good zone and Gillespie is MIA.

A karma point to all of you on the page, except Sager.   :D

My Karma went from 30-20 in the two days that I found out Wartburg football fans have little-man syndrome.

Scots4

Well I had to mute the Ripon announcer. All he wants to do is complain about officiating.
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.

Scots4

Absolute collapse by the Scots on opening night.

79-71 Ripon in OT

Fort Knox

Hate to say it guys, but the LU announcers have been very good tonight...not sure if its the same group or not...maybe they took your advice.

Knox was leading most of second half...LU on run, up 6 with 7 to play

Fort Knox

Lawrence beats Knox 81-70...first time seeing LU, but they seem like a Jekyll and Hyde outfit looking at the loss to Marian and thrashing of Stevens Point, but enough about LU, here is the scouting report on my Prairie Fire.

They played well for 32 minutes against the MWC's best team and showed that they will be in a lot of games this year, but still may not necessarily win a whole lot. Last year's eight-win total with a two-game + or - is probably a very reasonable expectation. Some good individual gears, but not able to fit together and be a machine for a whole game. They will improve steadily throughout the year as they play better defense than past Knox teams and will continue to gel in the offense while the young guys get more experience.  Freshman guard Ben Wetherbee is a player, first-team caliber all-MWC in his final two seasons IMO. He torched LU for a while shooting, but he is small and not strong enough yet and a little streaky. He will have 1-10 nights where he is a non-factor and others where he keeps Knox in games single-handily. When he gets older and stronger and understands the college game better, he has the skills to still get his points when his shot isn't falling. The biggest problem for Knox is the lack of legit second scorer on the outside...Estergard has disappeared after a great season last year and another talented freshman Joe Kozak (a SF-PF tweener) is probably best as the third scoring option on a team. Don't know his numbers yet, but sophomore forward Matt Goedeke had a great night. Those of us who saw him play in high school expected him to be somewhere around a solid 12 and 7 (if not a double-double) guy and hopefully tonight is a sign of things to come.

The future looks bright and this team may surprise some down the stretch.
