I will leave the Knox defender nameless in this case but M. Horton made a great ball fake, put the defender on the floor then promptly hit the 3. Something that you would see in an And1 Street Game. Nice to see a freshman do that.

Did he do the "You can get up now" hand signal before hitting the three like Randolph Childress?

Speaking as a non-participant...is that really necessary?!

Can't you presume that everyone is going to pick Grinnell? I'm not a fan of the application of the transitive property here, but Grinnell beats Beloit by 27 and the next day Beloit beats Knox by 15...one can expect that Grinnell is a heavy favorite over Knox (at Grinnell no less), and that all participants are going to pick Grinnell.

Heck, even if Knox pulls off the upset, it should affect everyone the same...
Just sayin'  ;D

hickory_cornhusker

but there is a big difference in my mind between being 11-0 and 10-1 going into Christmas

What I want to know is how could Maverick pick Knox over Beloit after my Mt. Monmouth shirt and all ?? I did see a few "Kn*** F**" shirts on campus that day so what gives ??

The Roop

Here's one from the "only The Roop would think of that" file.

We get 60 teams in the field this year so that means 4 byes instead of 5. How about 1 bye in the third round instead, then utilize a floating bracket like the NFL has ?? 15 4 team pods (regionals) then re-seed the field after the first weekend.

This would keep the "travel bye" option open for any surviving west coast teams and also help to balance the tournament. Lets face it, more years than not, 1 team in Salem has not faced any significant competition until the Elite 8.

Additionally. It would resolve one of the recent poll questions, "When do Wash U. and Augustana meet in the play offs" ?? Based on geography they should meet no later than the 2nd round. Not exactly fair based on what their rankings are likely to be when the time comes.

A 3rd round bye is not unheard of in the D3 tournament. It happened all the time when there were only 28 in the field.

Fort Knox

Anyone else trying and failing to get the webcast of the Knox-Grinnell game?

I wasn't, but maybe it was a good thing you didn't get it...133-80 Grinnell over Knox.

84-43 at half, so Grinnell might have let off the accelerator in the second half. Good night for the Pioneers shooting and on defense. They 44% of their treys in the first half (39% for the game), and forced 41 turnovers.

And I promise I'm not trying to call anyone out, but Ortiz from Knox looks like he had a rough night - Grinnell can do that to you when they are playing well (which it looks like they were). He played 11 minutes with 2 assists and 7 turnovers. Ouch. Hold your head up son; you'll be better prepared next time. It takes some getting used to, but others in the league have learned to play against the attacking defense that Grinnell plays.

We now know that Jessie Jackson Jr. is candidate #5 so that means scottie must be one of the top 4 for the vacant Senate seat. The Feds don't watch this board so what exactly did you offer scottie ??

The Roop - That was my bad, buddy.  I guess my head was thinking the Fightin' Purlees were due to get one this weekend.  But I have now seen the error of my ways and am a Bucs Believer after their win. ;D

I'll tell you about the "family business" at next year's third round grid iron playoff game. If I'm not caught up in Washington, that is...   8)

Sure. Sell out the Mt. Monmouth faithful in favor of your personal gain. I see how it works.  ;)
