Also, if you want any So. Cal. tour advice, let me know that too!

Bring a sweater, it's been in the 30s at night. Welcome to sunny California, Lawrence!

I don't think they'll mind. We're lucky to hit 30 during the day up here in Wisconsin.

Tonight Lawrence is playing Caltech, which lost 74-34 to Chapman on December 13, so the Beavers are having trouble getting into the 30s, too.

Fort Knox

No hiding that it has been a tough go for my Prairie Fire this season, but it isn't from a lack of playing anyone. Counting tomorrow's opponent (Millikin), the eight teams that have beat Knox this year are a combined 51-21, a winning percentage over .700

I will be in attendance Thursday on my way home for the holidays and will report back on what hopefully will be the first win of the season. Maybe a bit optimistic considering it is 8-0 vs. 0-8  :o

I would agree that his has been a rough start against some quality teams.  Inconsistent play, lack of a true scorer (depending on the night wetherbee is having), and turnover after turnover guard play have hurt this young team.  I'm interested to see how the conference plays out.

Regarding my pick 'em status...it's early boys...real early...and no not steve early!

According to Cal Tech's website, LU wins 96-55.

I would think that anyone who travels to So Cal for the Larry game would be described as a diehardfan, don't you, April?  ;D

Still, it's good advice. The best is to wear layers... i usually do normal clothes (possibly not even a sweater during the day) and a big long wool coat at night. It's funny how it can be 60-70s during the day and then almost freezing at night!

The game was tied 17-all at 11:40. Lawrence went on a 19-2 run in the next 3 minutes. It was 60-31 at halftime and went downhill for Caltech from there.

Guaranteed that Cal Lutheran will give Lawrence a better game.

No Chris Page for Lawrence against Cal Tech...any LU folks know the reason for that? Beating Cal Lutheran without him will be tough.

Yup.  Laughing my frozen butt off here in 16 degree weather anticipating a foot of snow overnight.  Fuuuuunnnnnnyyyy.   :-[ :-\ :'( ;)

      The Roop

MSOE 71 Beloit 61 in ot. I missed all but 30 seconds of the webcast but apparently Beloit turned it over 33 times and only shot 2 of 11 in the ot. Hopefully some that were there will tell us more about it.

      Eyewitness report from Thousand Oaks:

      Cal Lutheran 85, Lawrence 65

CLU: Andy Meier 28 pts (10-for-14 FGs, 8-for-10 FTs) and 12 rebs, Aaron Fisher 13 pts and 8 rebs, Greg Grimm 13, Kyle Knudsen 12, Aaron Van Klaveren 8 pts and 11 rebs
LU: Ryan Kroeger 23, John Dekker 10

      Halftime: LU 37-32
      Rebounds: CLU 40-27
Records: Cal Lutheran 5-1, Lawrence 6-3

In the first half, the game was tied 29-all at 4:05. Lawrence scored the next 8 to lead 37-29, but CLU got a FT by Andy Meier and a buzzer-beating layup by Greg Grimm and trailed 37-32 at halftime.

The Kingsmen scored the first 14 points of the second half, during which Lawrence head coach Joel DePagter was T'd up for taking issue with a call. After Ryan Kroeger made a couple of FTs for Lawrence, CLU scored 7 in a row and led 53-39 at 13:20. Back came Lawrence with a 12-0 run, capped by a 5-point play: John Dekker hit a 3-ball as Eric Strangis fouled Chris Page underneath the basket. Page made both FTs, and the Vikings only trailed 53-51. That was as close as Lawrence would get. Cal Lutheran went on a 13-1 run, during which DePagter got his second T and was ejected, and CLU led 66-52. Lawrence got no closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Chris Page started for Lawrence. He played 19 minutes, scored 4 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and fouled out. Ryan Kroeger played a solid game for LU. He had 23 pts on 8-for-15 FGs, and 5-for-6 FTs.
