No One In Particular,

What in the HELL are you talking about. ??? :) I don't understand what your argument is and you have failed to comprehend my original post.

I didn't say Kroeger and Gillespie were better than Ladwig and Drury, only that they contributed more during their freshmen seasons. I added that Kroeger and Gillespie were good enough to play anywhere to show that they would have been quality players wherever they had played and thus that their freshman stats were not the result of them being the best players on absolutely terrible teams.

I also dont understand how Drury got brought into this conversation.

Quote of the first half of Grinnell/IC by the IC announcer:

The IC player clearly:
1) travels
2) looks confused
3) throws the ball away

"What was THAT?!?" then the announcer regained composure: "I mean, I can't even describe what it was he just did."

YOU said neither Drury nor Ladwig had an impact their freshmen seasons. What the HELL are YOU talking about?

My point exactly...I think the Carroll duo may be the two best players in the conference, but neither had an impact as a freshman.

Why would I be referencing Drury here? I was talking about current players and their impacts as freshmen. The duo I was referring to was Ladwig and HOCH

95-57........................

Don't ask me, I slept through the game. Although I'm thinking that if I was 6'7" that I could score more than 5 points in 24 minutes. Could probably out do that at 6'2" and 43 years old anyway.

I'm getting ready to watch Winona St. @Minn-Mankato as Winona has a couple former New Roop City High kids on the team.

100-85 Winona St. takes it. MN St. Mankato does seem to have a great facility however. Perhaps The Roop will grace them with my presence in the near future.

System Error

No One in Particular and FightingTitan,

If the conversation was supposed to be about Hoch and Ladwig, how did both Drury and LONG?? get into the conversation. I don't understand how their lack of production freshman year proves anything about the CU duo now.

My twenty eight cents worth:  ;)

Ladwig and Hoch are excellent players.  So are Kroeger, Grotberg and Long.   Arsenault and Gillespie put up impressive stats; I question if not to the detriment of their respective programs.  I think their coaches may be sub-optimizing their teams for the benefit of their offspring; kind of looks like Little League to me.  :(

What these guys did relative to each other as freshmen is no longer that important; how they did is of interest.  I contend that Grotberg has improved the least of the bunch; that is, he was as effective as a frosh as he is now.  He was ready then and the System (I am not a System or Arsenault fan) capitalizes on his one main skill, shooting the ball.

Kroeger had the benefit in 2005/2006 of not being "the man" at LU, and getting some extra looks as there was Braier and others to worry about.  Now he still gets the points but has to work 3X as hard as he is always doubled or at least cheated on.  No offense to his current running mates; Braier was a unique animal in D3.  Kroeger's defense is also impressive.  It would have been very interesting to see a Grotberg in a program like Lawrence or St. Norbert.  I'm sure he'd be a 20 point guy and would need to be a better defender or he wouldn't see the rock.  :o

As a WIAC grad/fan and an MWC fan as well, I have really been impressed by how good the MWC has become, at least at the top 4-5 spots.  The scoreboard doesn't lie.  Hopefully the NCAA selection committee will begin to hear the din of the finely pitched sound through their tin ears and allow several teams from both conferences into the tournament on a regular basis.  There is no question they are deserving.  :)

I have no clue how we got so far off course...going back to the main point of my initial post: Yes, I agree the MWC is as good as it has ever been. :)

T2K,

Grotberg may have improved the least but how do you improve over the freshman season he had ?? Let's face it, he'd have to double those numbers to get any notice.

I don't see how you can relate Ripon and Grinnell to Little League parenting/coaching. Although it is a clever comparison to a point. Scott Gillespie stands out because he's about all that team has. Sorry Ripon fans but I've seen you play this season. Little A is a team leader on a very good team. I'm not sure why you think Coach A is tailoring "the system" around him.

Roop, I guess I haven't gotten over Little A's "assist" record last year vs. St Bonaventure Tech and $9.95 Oil Change.   ;)

I kinda lost interest once Pat got involved as that's a sign that something is getting more attention than it deserves. As far as this season goes Grinnell did try giving their big 3 extra minutes as they have no replacement for Chamberlain. That didn't work as the guys kept running out of gas and it wound up costing them so they stopped.

Roop.

Good catch on the minutes of Grinnell's Big 3. It appears some of their young guys, especially Chalupa & Skelly, can really shoot it and they will be a much better team getting those guys shots instead of trying to depend on the Big 3 to produce running on fumes.

Wish I could take credit but to be honest I would have never known this had Coach A not told me himself. He's a fan so we always have a good chat before games.

FYI T2K St. Bonaventure Tech and $9.95 Oil Change is currently 10-4, although I wouldn't exactly call it a difficult schedule.
