The new place in town is good - Bourbon Street/Voodoo Lounge. Pricey, but good Cajun food. And from my visit last week, a GC player hangout.

Pricey from a Chicago standpoint or pricey from a Grinnell standpoint. There is a difference.

that would be pricey from a Grinnell standpoint. entrees $15-25.

Stay away from the old-fashioneds. Not their best moment in mixed drinks.  The crawfish etoufee, however - now that's worth a taste.

I love crawfish anything so it's on my list if you guys host this time around  ;)

And now my keys for a Beloit victory tonight. I spent an hour on the stats yesterday (now that they've finally been updated) and here's what needs to happen. 1. Turnovers kept under 10, everybody commits them but 17 a game is too many. 2. This should lead to more shot opportunities. Shooting percentage really isn't that bad but they're not taking enough shots. 3. Balance in the scoring column. Minutes are balanced but scoring is not. Towns and Horton are 50% of the offense, more people need to get involved. 4. Get to the line more often, which should come with more shot attempts. 5. Keep the other team off the line. That stat is kinda out of whack; although that probably has to do with the imbalance at MSOE. 6. Rebound like you mean it and don't get abused on the boards.

Eastside

For the Bucs to wins they must win the rebound battle, limit the Vikes to one shot per trip and get some offensive boards as well.  They must go inside and get Andy Horton more involved than he has been in the last two games.  The ball should go through Andy Horton nearly everytime down the floor.  The Bucs need to be an "inside-outside" team.  The last two games the defenses have suckered the Bucs into settling for outside shots and ignoring the big guy.  Turnovers need to be limited to less than ten, and the Bucs need to win the loose ball battles.  Intensity, both offensive and defensive, must be ratcheted up as well.  These goals are achievable.

But Greg if you refer back to my original post, it was about questions for this year not the past six or nine years.  If I allow people to dig up the past I might have Scottie claiming that Monmouth is proof that there is b-ball outside the CCIW.  And please note my libreal use of smileys when i called you out on this.

What is THAT supposed to mean?  Are you suggesting that I'm old, or simply that my knowledge of Monmouth basketball is encyclopedic?   ;D

That's right, PC.  We prefer you as quiet as possible.   :D

They need to learn to win and hopefully can start with a lesson against the lowly Scots tonight  :)

I'll guess we'll see who the lowly team is tonight, huh!? ;D

Saints Rest next time.

Especially, if they still have that COOL owner!   ;D

sorry Scottie, I'm not good at being quiet...  And try that sub place in the back of the news stand next door to Saints Rest.

jeffdc

"And try that sub place in the back of the news stand next door to Saints Rest."

Actually, that sub place is now in the same building as Saints Rest - it's at the back of the room, so you can buy your coffee and eat your sandwich, too.

Kind of sounds like a famous quote, huh?

But don't try and engage JeffP in bball conversation - he's out of that - gone cold turkey.

ARE YOU SERIOUS about JeffP?  That's a shame!

He's been to the circus too many times and is sick of peanuts and elephants, I gather.  ::)

That's a DAMN shame.

I still have my Saints Rest Coffee cup. I can't be the only one on the board who has one.

Well, come on, guys - when was the last time you saw a JeffP post? I'd bet it's been at least a year, maybe longer.

He still has his pony tail, though.

I'm more shocked that he's quit discussing MWC basketball.  I knew that he had a few bumpy moments on this board, but who hasn't (except Sager, of course)?  :D  He made The Roop seem like a fairweather fan.  He made SNCOLDAD look old.  He made Gillespie look calm.  He made Fabio look...um...less Fabio-like.

Everybody sing with me now.  "Desperado.  Why don't you come to your senses???"

HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

perhaps it was that very obsession that drove him over the edge.

Or maybe it was the concept of a Roopacino?   :D
