Hickory:

I didn't attend the LU/CU game yesterday but did in 2008.  I recall the PA announcer was really annoying. After reading the NCAA sportsmanship announcement, he proceeded to be the biggest homer of all time including alienating every LU fan to a point where some of the parents went to him at half time asking him to, if nothing else, turn down the volume in good sportsmanship.  He scoffed at them and only increased it.  LU won by the way.  ;)

Now this guy is no Jack Buck, so if it's you or your dad I apologize.  But I listened to the CU/SNC game on Midwest.tv and he was still there, being a jackass.  I would think even your fans would dislike his belloring like a Holstein every time you score.  :-[

By the way, I agree, Hoch is a stud and clearly the POTY, unless Kroeger takes LU on a run which is within the realm of possibility.  SNC is so balanced I'd have to make Gresz the POTY there.

Are you talking about the PA announcer or the person doing the play by play for the midwestconference.tv? If it's the PA announcer I can't stand the guy. That's the one nice thing I found with doing the color commentary. I don't hear him as much because I have headphones on. Unfortunately we have a mic picking up sound from the court so we hear him when he gets really excited which is often. I really don't care, if it's against the tv announcers. I welcome any suggestion to make us better. (I know I feel that way and I would think the other two would too.)

I think last night may have helped Hoch's POTY credentails. Carroll is a completely different team without him there. But if he misses many more games it will be tough to give it to him. I don't think anyone from St. Norbert should get it just because they have no one who stands out (I mean that as a compliment.)

Your broadcast was good.  I thought you had a good grasp of the game.  The discussion about the tourney at Grinnell, I hope you are wrong.

That PA yahoo didn't have as much to cheer for but I couldn't have kept the sound on if CU was hot--he would have been doing his "Wes Ladwig, for threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" thing too much.  You are lucky to have the headphones on.

I bet Schultzie loves that guy though.  I love the understated sound of "Dekker for 3".

Yes H-C I know you are, I just thought I would try to bait you into the conversation. LOL.

Not sure what to think of the Beloit game. They played with SNC pretty well for a half, then took a 5 minute nap and it got out of hand. Not sure why that always happens but there's a 20 year history of it a St. Norbert. They closed the game on a 15-0 run so that's an improvement.

Yeah, the Carroll announcer is a little too loud..ok, A LOT too loud.  There's getting excited and there's getting annoying.

Hate to beat the dead horse from last week but just looked in on Grinnell. Big Dave has all four seniors in the game with 3 mins to go. Grotberg has 46pts, Long 28pts and Little Dave 14 assists. They are up by 30pts. Is this crossing the line?

Well, never mind. They all came out with 2:55 remaining. Must have read my post... LOL

A lot of people have written off Grinnell this season already.  An earlier post says "since Grinnell can't beat Carroll this year..." and various other comments reinforce these crazy ideas that Grinnell isn't at least an equal in the predicted tournament brackets.

Point 1: Grinnell had to play Carroll the second day in on a Wisconsin road trip, and only lost by 6 in a very close game at home.

Point 2: Grinnell loses by 11 to SNC at home, shooting 14-26 from the foul line.  SNC goes 43-52 from the line.  That's quite a large foul disparity... doesn't usually turn up that way in the tournament.

Point 3: On any given night, you can give up 50 to Grotberg or Long or both.  On a given night, any of these other teams can go crazy and have 45 turnovers.

I have seen the System produce some interesting outcomes before.  I've seen Grinnell win in the tournament when they weren't supposed to.  I've seen them lose when they weren't supposed to.  But one thing is certain... the team I've been watching this season hasn't played their best ball yet and it's going to come soon.

Based on what I saw at Alex about 10 days ago, the disparity in GC foul shooting against SNC meant the oafs didn't call enough fouls against Grinnell.   LU was in the bonus at 16:51 and the double bonus at 11:30 or so.  And the LU fans, an intelligent bunch, felt they missed at least 4-5 fouls.  Big Davey must have decided that the oafs will just tire of calling fouls and let everything go as opposed to winning by outplaying the other team.

Grinnell should introduce Roller Derby.  They already have the team.

What is the latest ppg watch for Grotberg?  How much does he need to average to set the galaxy record for scoring?
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

It won't matter scottie. As soon as Grotberg sets the galaxy record for scoring he graduates. Then next season begins the Travis Towns watch at Beloit to break it. Although he probably doesn't break it next season. Maybe his junior year. Then all we'll hear in his senior season is "why is Travis Towns running up the score so much. It's not real basketball if he's showing up Kobie all the time".

Well, I have to give you a karma point for originality. Roller Derby is a new one.

Of course, I can't help but notice that with a few small tweaks these complaints could be the AZ Cardinals fans complaining about the refs and the Steelers.  ;D :D

RC 49 BC 28 at the half. Not sure why it took Beloit so long to switch to a zone, maybe they were running their get burned by give and go drills.................

Attn Ripon announcers. Read the program as it is, it's correct. Andy Horton is a senior, so you won't see three more years of him, and he did go to Parkview. Don't let the Janesville thing fool you and assume it's Parker.

Lawrence wins at St. Norbert 75-52. St. Norbert had the lead once with about 15 minutes left in the first. Otherwise it was all Lawrence.

gbpuckfan

All Lawrence is right.  :(

I'll be interested in the stats to see the shooting percentages. SNC couldn't hit much - and mised at least 5 layups/bunnies by my count. And, in the second hald, Lawrence did a good job of extending every possession - on both sides of the ball - to 20+ seconds, making it tough for SNC to come back.

Still, SNC is atop the standings  ;D - with 4 in a row on the road next
