60-51 Good Guys.  FINAL.  (31-13 in the second half.)

Coincidentally, during the game (while watching the webcast) TNT was showing Braveheart. Hmm, the Scots beat the Knights then, too.   :o

The 13 points in the second half almost defies belief.

On the offensive end, Eric Grant was tremendous late. A big three, a couple driving hoops and at least 2-for-2 on free throws, if not more. The Scots went something like 9-of-10 at the line to seal the deal.

Against Knox, Coach Vershaw said the visiting Fire "wanted it" more. Not so tonight. I only saw the second half, but Monmouth really got after it. I'm guessing they won 75-80 percent of the loose balls. They were hustling all over the court, and it was great to see.

I typically like my games in the 70s or 80s, but for a low-scoring affair, this one ranks right up there!

Sorry, LU won by about 10.  The camera person at IC must have been to happy hour before the game.  Wow, I feel like I just survived an earthquake.

Don't get too excited Fort Knox. I said Beloit would go 3-20 two weeks ago. Good thing they fired Cecil or who knows where they would be right now.

Ripon played hard and well.  Good defense, especially during the first half, when Ripon led for a while.

Monmouth 60, #11 St. Norbert 51
Lake Forest 58, Carroll 55
Grinnell 120, Ripon 100
Lawrence 86, Illinois College 76
Knox 77, Beloit 60

Is the MWC really only trying to get one team in the NCAAs??  Wow.

Ladwig played 11 minutes...injury?  Well, Carroll nearly "beat" St. Norbert.  They scored 16 second half points!

And no I'm not Vraney-hating. Rather, lots of people wanted a change and they got it. On to Salem right ?? Pat Summit couldn't win there until the culture of losing is overcome. Athletes do a good job of supporting fellow athletes and there is somewhat of a student section now. However, nobody else (the majority) seems to care.

When nobody notices what you do, why make the effort ??

I guess it's time to ask the important question--what are the tie breakers if we end up with a 4 way (or 3 way) tie at the top of the MWC?  Who hosts the tourney then?

I say find a nuetral site in Appleton and always have it there.   8)
