Check beneath the seats in your car. I'm guessing the bag of tacos fell under there.

Roop:

I'm sure the car wash dude from JD Byrider ate them a long time ago.

I hope the only business you are doing with JD Byrider is getting your car washed there, and not purchased.  I've read that they are one of the most predatory companies around.  (This public service message brought to you by "Scottie, a poster who cares about you.")

Scottie:

I would never do business with them. I steal a car when I need one, but only a hybrid in these sustainable times.  :D

A little Milwaukee Journal news on the Lawrence Vikings  and Carroll Pioneers.

Nice story T2K but it didn't mention the fact that LU has to play "Americas Team" once more. That will change the standings and we go to Grinnell. As I was recently displaced by a "workforce reduction", I've got plenty of time to go wherever the MWC Tournament might be. That doesn't mean that I will go, but I should have the available days off to make it; so to speak.

Three weeks pay and a nice federal refund coming in. The Roop will be a "gentleman of leisure" for a month or two. That's the fantasy version. Truth be told I'll be bored in about 12 days and should have something within two weeks.

If not, I'll learn to not be bored and live off the Government.

Roop:

I can't tell if you desired the displacement; if not I am sorry for that.   :'(

I believe PacMan Jones played for America's team, too.   :o

I am sure the Iowans can transport some ethanol up for your trip.  My friends in Ankeny tell me it runs down the ditches there like milk and honey in the Land of Babylon.  ::)  Surely they can get you that aid in your economic state.

See you in Alex two weeks from right now.  ;)

I don't mind the displacement but what I wanted was a rotating lay off plan implemented. Even suggested that when they collected cost saving ideas from everyone a month or so ago. When you lay people off long term, or dismiss them, the state thinks you're firing people just to fire them and your unemployment tax rate goes up. Whereas that doesn't happen with short term lay offs. Unfortunately the operations manager heeds the words of his "Brown Nosed Posse" a.k.a. 1st shift and here I am.

Actually the "BNP" consists of only 3 people but it's amazing how they always get their way even when I've proven them to be wrong or telling only half the story. For that and a couple things coming in the future I've had my eye open for a while and figure to find something as soon as I want to. Probably won't make what I did but I can afford to take a pay cut within reason.

What I dislike about the whole thing is that it may turn around a month from now and they'll say "Hey Roop, we need you back". Then I start from scratch as a new hire and have to wait a couple years to get to my 2 weeks vacation again. This is likely to happen whether things turn around or not as the people they retained have roughly an hours experience on the new saws and I was supposed to resume  training them now that things are slow.

For example only 5 knew how to cut Aarrowcast on the new saws and now 3 of us are gone. When they order it is in massive quantities and it took three shifts plus overtime for weeks at a time just to keep up. Not sure how they expect to fill orders on time with only 2 operators on one shift that know how to cut it. Before I learned how to do it we had an on time delivery rate of 60%. After I learned it we were 100% and ahead of schedule.

Well I think I've rambled enough. Probably could've just said that they shot themselves in the foot on this one.

Roop:

What do the machines to cut this stuff cost?  Isn't an Aarowcast an aluminum foundry in Shawano?

Let's start D3Hoops Machining Inc.

Slight diversion here...the MWC conference swimming championships are being held this weekend and the Grinnell women's and men's team are on their way to winning their 11th and 8th straight championships. That sent me to the conference web site to see if there are other long running streaks of championships.

It sure looks like the MWC has some schools that are focused on certain sports. Grinnell has swimming (M & W) and cross country (M have won 22 of the last 23 titles); IC has golf (W, 6 years); Knox has golf (M, 16 of the last 21); and Monmouth has track (M & W, 12 of 15 and 13 of 14 indoor).
Interesting that it seems easier to dominate in sports that are more 'individual'.

Is the Grinnell/IC game not being shown on MWCTV today?  The last thing in the world that I want to watch is swimming and diving.  I don't get to see the Grinnell seniors' last home game?  For shame.

gcfan33

Looks like they got it working.  I was getting worried!

Big congratulations to all the GC seniors on tremendous careers... with a little help, this doesn't have to be the last game in Darby this season.  Go Lawrence.

Roop: A few suggestions for new jobs if your interested in a career change:

1. Asst. SID for the MWC.  Since Matt Troha left, their office could use extra help.

2. Co-director of D3sports.universe.  Lord knows PC could use a hand.

3. Or, chief executive assistant and sports legal counsel for the new Beloit president.

The chances of getting your thumbs cut off might be slightly less at any of these than your current line of work.  Or, maybe not.  :D

LU wins 65-38 over St. Norbert.

Only 2 more wins and the road to the NCAA runs through ALEX once again......

Not to slam student broadcasters doing webcasts.....but please get your facts right if you are going to make statements.

LU broadcasters:

With this win today it all but wraps it up for LU to host the conference tournament.
Fact:  LU needs to still win out, and have SNC beat Carroll.  They lose 1 game and either SNC or Grinnell hosts.

Beloit Broadcasters:
SNC beat Ripon last Wednesday, so it looks like SNC and Carroll won't play again this season so SNC will host the conference tournament.

Fact:  They play THIS Wednesday night.  They are also both North Division teams.  Every year you play the same division teams twice...its not that hard guys...

You can butcher the play by play, but when you don't do your research agaed of time and just make up stuff....that's what pisses me off.

Rant over.....

I think I predicted that a time or two, already.  Good thing you got through the Monmouth portion of your road schedule when you did!  ;D
