Good Guys over LF tonight, according to the MC website.

Unfortunately, the Good Gals lost to the lady trees in a game with serious playoff implications.

There will be more CCIW losses without having any upsets occur. At the risk of a lecture from Mr. Sager it would not surprise me if the CCIW only gets 1 in this year.

No lecture is forthcoming from me, Roop. There is a distinct possibility that the CCIW could only end up with one representative in the tournament. I think that the CCIW will end up with two reps, which appears to be a bigger possibility than either one or three.

The MWC's chances of getting a second team into the field appear to be very slim, judging by both the current regional rankings and Patrick Abegg's computer formula.

I keep telling him that, but maybe you telling him will have a bit more influence...

How many the MWC gets isn't much of a concern to me, I'm just repeating what was said on Hoopsville. It's also worth noting that Wheaton was left for dead, got a bid anyway and made it to the Elite 8 last year. The Abegg ratings missed that too so nobody's perfect.

I'd rather have only one make it and get a reasonable seed than getting two in and being in the same regional with two top 8 teams.

Upsets are possible. I'd much rather have two than one.  besides, how much higher do you think the seed would be with just one team?  Not much I suspect.

Naturally it will depend on where the byes fall because with only 1 from the MWC there's a better chance of playing the NathCon Pool A or a Pool C from the CCIW or IIAC. If two from the MWC make it you're likely to see a MWC - WIAC challenge in a regional. And given the results in the WIAC last night that's a real possibility as a bye may have just moved to the left coast.

Standings as of 2/18/09

LU 12-3
SNC 12-3
GC 12-3
CU 11-4

Games Saturday:

Grinnell @ Monmouth 3pm
Carroll@ St. Norbert 4 pm
Lawrence @ Ripon  4 pm

Grinnell hosts if:  They win, and Carroll wins
St. Norbert hosts if: They win, Ripon wins
Lawrence hosts if: They win, St. Norbert wins
Carroll hosts if: They win, Ripon wins, Monmouth wins

Its gonna be an interesting Saturday....hopefully all the webcasts are working.

[Stating the obvious] the Norbs-CU game is the key game since all the hosting scenarios depend on the outcome of that game.

Regardless of who hosts, it sure looks like LU is the hottest team going into the tournament. As a GC fan, I'd rather have to face Norbs or CU in the first game - and Grinnell hasn't played well against them this year - and hope that Larry gets upset in the first game.

Finally, two simple words for Saturday: Go Pioneers!   :D

Well, I'll tell you who wasn't upset last night - any of Scottie's picks.  Congrats to T2K and Mav who also sided with the Good Guys to go 4-0.  A couple of 1-3 and even 0-4 selections is giving Scottie a little insurance going into the weekend.   8)

Could Monmouth PLEASE get a win?

Vershaw still owes us for missing those free-throws.

Congrats on your 4-0 night also, Scottie; looks like you've got a slight edge going into the final Saturday of games.  At least the Good Guys are in the lead for something at this point in the season. ;)  And speaking of Good Guys, the other ones in orange and blue, last night was awful...I was at the game and have never witnessed anything quite that ugly. >:(

I've suggested a refund for that game, but I think it's fallen on deaf ears.  I would have almost preferred to watch a Knox intra-scrimmage than that mess.   >:(

How do I change my POY vote at the top of the page  ???

I voted for Bobby Long but Ryan Kroeger was a beast last night and as well against St. Nubbies.  Everyone covers him so tight that someone is always open for the easy 3 or layup.

Are you talking about the Fighting Fibs of the U of Illinois?  They do suck, I wouldn't pay to see that.  Good warmup for someone in the Big 10 Tourney.

Page #666 ought to be coming up around tourney time, so we'll expect big things from you.   :D

I'm guessing the page in question will be why Grinnell hosted a regional and LU didn't get a bid.
