Wow, I leave town for a few days and this board goes to hell in a handbasket....  :)   A few ramblings from Scottie:

1. Congrats to H. Cornhusker on gutting it out against Scottie down the wire.  I took a gamble on the last day and my hunch didn't pay off.  But I'll gladly take a co-championship.  I have so many people to thank......

2. The Roop:  Why not wear your Mt. Monmouth shirt to the game?  That was one snappy tee!

3. Gregory: Your "Flaming Flatland" reference was unexpected, but chuckle-worthy.

4. Leave Eileen out of this!

5. Everyone, be sure to spend lots-o-$$ at Saints Rest.  And tell that guy to cut his pony tail!!!
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

Well it looks like I will be making the trip via an eco-friendly carpooling arrangement. My wardrobe is up to the highest bidder. Sadly the Mt. Monmouth shirt is not an option as I threw the masking tape and felt tip markers out a while ago.

The carpool will be making a side trip Saturday night but The Roop will stay in Grinnell so as to be available for personal appearances. I'll just need a ride for those however.

Well played...

Sigh...for the culturally deprived, those are lyrics from the Be-Sharps greatest hit "Baby On Board". Have you forgotten them already?!

The Roop

According to the Grinnell website Ladwig will be back for Carroll.

HA good luck to Derek...he obviously doesn't know what he is getting into. The black hole of D3 hoops. LF already has 14 freshman on its roster, how is he going to get all these kids PT and keep them happy? Good decision............

Looking ahead to the All MWC team, I checked the stats from the league and was a little surprised to see how senior dominant the stats are this year.

Could we have an all senior first team MWC? I'm guessing not, but Hoch might be the lone exception.
Horton, Kroeger, Ladwig, Grotberg, Long, Arseneault, Gillingham, Gould, Page, Kadison, Zimmerman, Apelgren...all gone after this year. You could create a pretty solid All-Star team from that group. My apologies if I forgot someone. I was getting those quickly.

7 of the top 10 scorers are seniors.
The top 4 in rebounds are all seniors.
Every individual stat except FT % and 3-pt % are lead by seniors.

Makes you wonder what the league will be like next year.

The Roop

I'll take Horton, Kroeger, a healthy Ladwig, Grotberg and Kadison. That line up should score 90 a game easy.

Not exactly your question but that's how I'm answering it.

Are there any locks for All-MWC team? Grotberg, Hoch and Kroeger for sure right?

I'm not sure how "unrivaled" a Lake Forest education is, but, yes, there are some academic distinctions between LF and UW-U-name-it (based on individual preferences, of course).

I don't know why he'd play for a walk-on badger, when he could have come a little further South and played for the Real McCoy as part of the Vershawshank Redemption.   :D

But, I'm sure there is one reason - and one reason only - why he chose LF: Conger's Armani suit.   ;D ;D ;D

I would imagine the same way he kept them all happy this year, as far as I can tell they didn't lose a freshmen from the initial roster at the beginning of the season.

And as is the case with D3 basketball, I'm sure all 14 freshmen will not be back next year...but it might be problematic because generally the ones who tend to drop off are (understandably) the ones not getting any minutes.

Lastly, this young man spoke of a desire to be able to build a strong tradition with the group of freshmen already there.  This seems to disprove your point that you were trying to make that he will be unhappy.  This kid seems to have a good head on his shoulders and understands that freshmen minutes does not a college career make.  Rather the opportunity to play with other freshmen who were good enough to play collegiate basketball their freshmen year.  Combine this with the good start to recruiting and the lack of any of the top teams returning much, and I think Lake Forest is going to be scary next year.
