8-8 will sometimes get you in the tournament. This season 8-8 was 4 games back of the final spot. Meaning that the top 4 will have 3 or 4 games to play with next year. Barring a total collapse I don't see how anyone else is going to improve that much to knock somebody out.

Graduation isn't exactly going to help IC. Not sure how much Ripon will be effected but then there is a noticeable fall off to the bottom 4. I'm sure they will still play the season though. Not sure if there will be  many changes however.

While Ripon could be good if all their players stay, that may be an issue there.  I've heard there are several players considering transfers.  Don't know why.

They are probably going to Lake Forest...because of the suit.

Would that be the "Conger 3 piece suit"?

The suit is some of Lake Forest's best work for 2008/2009.

What does everyone think about the games tomorrow night?

I am going to take Carroll over Lawrence and St. Norbert over the host.

I think Norbert's will play well enough to beat Carroll.

Random thoughts on the first day of the MWC tournament:

Where's the ice storm? Isn't there suppose to be crappy weather in central Iowa on these occasions?

Does anyone genuinely "love the smell of Roopacinos in the morning"?

Do I remember correctly that the All MWC, POY, and COY are typically announced today, or does that come after the tournament?

In honor of T2K, I can't believe I never thought of this before now, but clearly it is Roller DARBY, not Roller Derby. And now I'm thinking of Roller Girl in Boogie Nights...going to be an odd day with that stream of consciousness in my head...

Using the poll above, it seems that Lawrence and Grinnell are heavy favored to win today.

82% of respondents have LU playing in the championship tomorrow
75% have the hosts playing in the championship

and, therefore, logically,

25% have St Norbert and 18% have Carroll playing in the championship.

The department of obvious has spoken.

It just missed about 100 miles to the North.  I was in Sioux Falls for work and had to drive back to the Twin Cities yesterday.  What normally takes me about 4 hours took me 9.5.  Fun stuff....
Better Dead then Red

Greek Tragedy

I was driving to Sheboygan last night and it looked like a semi truck was crossing the highway in front of me.  You know, you see those "cross traffic" signs on a lot of highways usually near small towns or cities...the only problem was, there wasn't any cross traffic roads and the semi truck in front of me wasn't crossing the INTERSTATE.  He was sliding perpendicular (I know I probably spelled that wrong) to the interstate...needless to say, I realized then I was driving on an ice rink...freezing rain, now that's fun stuff.

Anyway, I just have a bad feeling tonight for the Pioneers of Grinnell.  St. Norb's has been sucking it up lately, so I just feel they are going to come out on fire and take it Grinnell, knowing if they lose, they've blown what began as a great season.  I hope I'm wrong though.

In the other semifinal, Carroll will keep it close, if Ladwig does indeed return, but Lawrence is just playing great lately.

conversation with JeffP yesterday indicates he WILL NOT cut off his pony tail. No matter how many Roopacinos are sold.

For those watching on MWC-TV, I hope you don't get the bonehead announcer again that delighted in saying 'there's Bobby Long for a LONNNGGG 3!", etc.

For CU/LU: please, play your guts out. Wear yourselves out. May the winner wake up tired, weary, and unwilling to run the System.

For GC: let's take the seniors out in glory. SNC is nice and all, but do they really deserve to win?

Nope, didn't think so.

I'm not going to be around a computer to watch the game...so if someone wants to PM me prior to the games tonight, by all means, do so and I'll give you my phone number and you can text me some updates.  I think I already have Larry U's, but not sure if he's going to the games or not.  Would love to go but just can't justify 10+ hours of driving!  Sorry boys.

I'll find a way to cope with that if he gets to say it ten or more times... ;)

It's all about shooting for Grinnell. I'm guessing it usually is in the tournament.

Shot well in a close game against Carroll last year.
Had dreadful game against LFC in 07.

In fact, after I posted, I realized we'll probably (i assume) have our homegrown announcers unless MWC imports from elsewhere.

Grotberg, Long, Skelly, and Chalupa have all had hot hands in the last few games. So we can be hopeful.
