If I understood things correctly on the IIAC board it will be Cornell and Wartburg in the championship. There's a "surprise" Pool A that Grinnell could host.

Likewise, if LU wins, and Wisconsin Lutheran can help finish off the upset run through the NAC tournament...could be a host there.

Aurora could travel to either LU or GC too...

That's conceivable, but with teams like St. Thomas, the WIAC trio, Wheaton, and Wash U. all in the general vicinity, I suspect any MWC team is trumped by higher rated potential hosts.  It is a rough neighborhood to try to earn a hosting spot! ;)

Move 500 miles east and you're a shoe-in! :D

jeffdc

as one who was in Darby tonight, my ears are still ringing. Amazing amount of noise.

SNC played a great game tonight, still amazed 3 players fouled out, faltered in the last 10 min.

GC - well, what can you say? Little A out, Grotberg cold for the 1st half, Long out the last 8 min - and they still won, handily.

LU will be well rested after their romp on CU today - GC, maybe not so much. But somehow, I have this  feeling that the chants of "LU, LU" won't last through tomorrow pm.

We'll see. In the meantime, congrats to GC - well done, guys!

Nothing but net

Attended the Midwest Conference Tourney and was impressed with Lawrence. They are playing great defense, shooting well and rebounding well. They really made things difficult for Hoch. Carroll missed Ladwig but I still believe Lawrence would have won even if Ladwig was able to play. As for Grinnell, they won the game despite the untimely injury to Dave Arseneault   Bobby Long was amazing with 33 points and PJ Mahaffey played big inside with key rebounds and 11 points.  It was a great team effort with eveyone stepping up to take charges, get rebounds, and get steals. The home crowd was rocking and really helped the Pioneers to victory.  Grinnell will have a huge challenge to beat Lawrence without Arseneault but I am sure they will give Lawrence a batlle. No matter who wins tomorrow, the team that loses should get an at large bid to the NCAA DIV III tournament. Both these teams are 18-6 and have 8 and 9 game win streaks.
Hoping for a Grinnell win tomorrow. Go Pioneers.

Greek Tragedy

Grinnell isn't getting a Pool C if they lose.  Lawrence is borderline at best.  The CCIW is a problem for LU.  They have Augustana right below them and could be jumped by them because they lost to a team ranked higher than them.  Even if Elmhurst loses in the CCIW Final tomorrow, they'll still be ranked higher than LU.  Gotta hope for a Transy win tomorrow as well.

The ODAC didn't help with Guilford and Randolph-Macon losing tonight.

I don't see a MWC hosting a first round game (then traveling to a bye team) or a 1st and 2nd round quad.

A loss would make Grinnell 15-6 in region and since they weren't ranked going into this weekend, I don't think that would hold up for a Pool C.

LU would be 18-7 in region with a loss. LU is the better qualified candidate but all the upsets in other tournaments do not help them.

Will be very interesting to see how the tourney's finish up today. I think Larry will give Grinnell a very good run, but Grinnell is tough at home.

Suprised to see Lawrence beat Carroll by so much and Norberts fall off on the last part of the year after being, I think 16-1 at one point.
