Beloit 73 MSOE 64. Close through out but Beloit put it away with roughly 2:00 left. They kept fouls under control and hit free throws. Dubuque figures to be a tougher test on Saturday but after tonight I think their predicted 9th place finish in the MWC may be a little low.

No stats yet but they had multiple people in double figures and Pat Kenny had a huge night.

Nice to see a few folks that I hadn't in a while. Sorry I couldn't partake in post game festivities but one in my party had already had her all day glass of wine before I got to town. Perhaps another time.

C'mon Bucs fans. I know the Dubuque game didn't go very well but I have a 3 hour drive home and I'm the first to post about it. ? ? ? Not the first time that has happened either.  >:(

I suppose if I had to pick a final before the game, the actual score would have been pretty close to what I would have guessed. However, there's more to it than that. Beloit wasn't as over matched as I expected and the margin was misleading. The Bucs simply didn't do the things they needed to balance things out.

Strike 1: 3 point shooting. Despite only 1 bad look they didn't make one until late in the second half.
Strike 2: Foul trouble. Team fouls weren't the issue but individual fouls kept them from having their preferred line up on the floor.
Strike 3 you're out: Forced passes. If it's not there, don't try it as it rarely works.

Don't blame me.  I'm sure it has something to do with Tiger and his Escalade.   :o

damn crickets keep waking me up...

Beloit lost a great man last week.  RIP Ron Splan, longtime fixture at the score table among other things.

The Roop

LMAO funny when nobody was looking too.

By the predictions in the pick 'em thread, we really think the south is weak this year.  The average poster only pick the HOME south teams to win 3 of 10 for the weekend.  If this actually happens it would have to be one of the worst showings for the home division in a cross-over weekend in my recollection.  (Now I am ready for you all to prove that my early onset Altzheimer's is getting worse.)

The Roop

Grinnell has saved the south in recent years, so why isn't it weak ??

Is there any more talk on that new league forming that had Colorado College and the Minnesota schools involved with MWC schools?

The Roop

I'm still waiting for an opinion from a second source. It isn't likely to happen but there is some momentum behind it.

Over on either the MIAC or the IIAC board, they said that this had only briefly been discussed a while ago (almost a year?) but rejected.  It was again brought to light by a coach who had been fired from one of the schools.  This is second or third hand (and from memory) so my facts may be a bit suspect, but I do know that it very likely isn't going to happen because it would break up the IIAC, including original members.
