Ask me in September. I'm not getting excited about potential recruits any more until they appear on campus.

Would be nice if they could bring in more than 1 transfer and 1 incoming freshman.  Maybe they could start the season with more than 10 players next year.

On one hand numbers are nice but I think they are set for guards for a while. They need legit post players right now. Two of those next year would be a good recruiting class as far as I'm concerned. Although if they landed 6 or 7 guards next year I would look for them to go to "the system" and be pretty good at it.

I really would be happy to see them just start getting a regular recruiting class of 4-5 quality players.   The Soph class is good but what happens when they leave.  Doesn't take that many good players to really turn the program around.

Would really like to see the basketball program begin to mirror the success we are starting to see from the Football, soccer and baseball programs.

What happened to Tanner Carlson last night for Knox? Why didn't he play? Great win for Beloit last night.

Also Ripon shoots over 80% from the floor last night. WOW!

Tanner Carlson did play against Beloit had 16pts in 40 minutes. The paper marked him down as Clarke Cuthbert who is no longer on team and that was his jersey number

Success/conference championships became few and far between (1) since the J.V. program went by the wayside. So it will take more than 4-5 recruits every year to re-establish the program. Lets get some post players and the next two years look pretty good.

4-5 recruits a year will give you appx. 16-20 kids in the program.  Would give you solid numbers of Soph - Seniors and give you a chance to teach the Frosh whatever system you are running.  Like I said before.  Soph are good and yes it would be great to get a good big man, but you always hope to get a good mix of recruits based on position so that you do not ever hit that starting over period.  Like beloit did and Grinnell is going through this year.

What are everyone's thoughts on the games tonight?

Beloit at Carroll
Knox at Grinnell
Ripon at St. Norbert

Speaking of Carroll, do you guys follow Wissports.net at all? According to an article I saw today, they have four recruits already.

Yet another recruit for Carroll University    http://www.wissports.net/sports/hoopsb/blog/message.aspx?f=123&id=1124488

Carroll University coach Dave Buchanan continues to reel in outstanding high school basketball players from Wisconsin.

After receiving verbal commitments from Adam Ganske of Eau Claire Regis, Andrew Nottling of Watertown Luther Prep and Alec Molter of Greenfield over the past two weeks, Buchanan got another verbal commitment this week as De Pere senior Scott Carney announced he would be playing college basketball for the Pioneers.

A 6-7 forward and three-year varsity performer for the Redbirds, Carney is averaging 9.2 points per game for coach Brian Winchester, who has led De Pere to a 17-1 record.

A rugged inside player with good size and strength, Carney figures to bolter the frontline at Carroll over the next four seasons.

You forgot IC at Monmouth so expect a lecture from scottie. LOL. But that's a must win for IC.

BC at CU is a must win for both teams.

Knox at Grinnell means nothing for either team but will likely have tie breaking implications when the log jam for 4th place piles up.

Ripon at St. Norbert. I'll take SNC because they are at home and the sooner they wrap up hosting rights the better.

It would be nice for GC to win tonight. It's at home, and it's been a while. Go for it, guys!

After seeing the results from last night, Scottie feels like lecturing.  Yeesh!

In case the NCAA is reading, here's how to get through the Midwest/West without creating another "Bracket of Death" this year.

St. Thomas A vs. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps A
@Chapman B vs. Whitworth A

@UW-Whitewater A vs. Aurora A
St. Norbert C vs. Randolph Macon C

@Carthage A vs. Anderson A
Lake Forest A vs. UW-Stevens Point C

@Westminster A vs. Central A
Bye
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> @Washington University A

Granted some lower ranked teams would be hosting, Chapman and Westminster, but that often happens to save on flights or to make travel easier. The automatic "geographic bye" for a west coast team might actually add flights this year so I didn't give one. In this hypothetical the section is complete with only 3 flights; assuming the highlighted teams advance. Just let Carthage or UW-Whitewater host the second weekend and it's a bus ride for everyone traveling.

I justify moving Randolph Macon (flight) in the opening round as the ODAC could very well get 4 teams in and at least 2 must get moved. Sorry CCIW fans but I don't see you getting 2 teams in. I am giving Carthage the nod over UW-Stevens Point so you are getting some props  ;).

You don't see the CCIW getting two teams into the dance, yet you see Lake Forest catching lightning in a bottle twice by winning again in St. Norbert and taking the MWC tourney title and the league's Pool A bid. Fascinating.

I haven't reviewed every conference (and I'm not going to) but there seems to be lots of one team top heavy situations this year. Therefore a chance for more upsets in conference tournaments. That really doesn't help the CCIW, especially if the ODAC grabs 3 Pool Cs.
