First football, now basketball ?? It seems somebody has it out for St. Norbert as they fell behind 2 teams with twice as many in region losses. Schedule strength is obviously a factor but twice as many losses is still twice as many losses. Win the tournament and it won't matter but they've gone from Pool C lock to out of consideration in a weeks time. Not sure that 1 loss should do that.

I don't think anyone has it out for St. Norbert in football.

So how do you explain SNC's baseball team last season?  They qualified despite being 23-13 when teams like Curry at 34-7 and Pacific Lutheran at 31-9 were left out.  SNC got in for baseball due to their great SOS, and SNC's basketball team is dropping because of their poor SOS.

Carleton's Carls knocked off St. Thomas in the MIAC playoffs last night.  St. Thomas is 23 and 3 and appears to qualify for an at large birth in the nationals.  What do you think this does to other teams and their chances if two come out of Minny?

The Roop

In the "taking a whack at Pool C" article Pat has SNC winning the MWC so they weren't even on the Pool C board. I'm guessing they would now be 22nd, at best, on the list of 19 if they lost. And I'm sure there will be more upsets coming so it's not looking good for 2 MWC teams getting in.

System Error

From the CU website, it looks as if the final was CU 85- LFC 81 in the first game of the Semi-final Match-ups.

It's worth nothing that Lake Forest missed plenty of free throws.

That's CU's greatest strength - FT defense! ;)

The Roop

Perhaps, but everybody in the MWC shut Lake Forest down from the line this year.  :o

This is the least amount of talk about a MWC tournament I've ever seen. Oh well. So if CU wins tonight, what are the chances we get two teams in?

I didn't personally see it last night, but all the fans around me commented on how Coach Gillespie doesn't shake hands after a game.  He departs the court ASAP.  Any truth?  What gives?

The Roop

While it doesn't happen every time, that is a well documented practice by Coach Gillespie following losses. If the rumors of his retirement after his son is done with school are true, I hope Scott declares for the NBA draft this year.

The conference is trying to promote sportsmanship so why this behavior goes unchecked is beyond me. At some point it is just a game so take a deep breath and get over it when you lose. Pouting in the locker room or on the ride home is fine but a public display is uncalled for.

Quiet in here...

St.Norbert gets to go to UWSP and play Hope in the early game on Friday.  Should be a good matchup, and its an easy drive for Green Knight fans to take in the game.

So does anyone have a brief scouting report on St. Norbert's for Hope fans?
Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.

Roop, Thanks for noting that CU shot 83% from the FT line while LFC shot 46% in a very close game. For what it's worth, I thought Carroll was a better team than their record indicated. (Is ANY team really better than it's record??)
