Tharpe is turning Hillsdale around so don't expect to get him back. Just remember, 8th is better than 9th or 10th.  ;)

Roop:

Isn't one of Beloit's starters off the LU scrap heap?  He must not have been able to master the oboe or he would have been a star at LU.  ;)

It was between LU and Beloit in the recruiting process and he picked LU at the last minute. Goes to show what last minute decisions get you. Now he's got his V8 ;D

Ill tell you right now, Grinnell College will not finish any seventh or lower this year. No way!

I agree.  GC will be much improved.  I am not sure they will qualify for the MWC tournament at season's end.  But, I am sure that they will be in the mix at season's end of those who have a chance to qualify.  They were so young and replacing so much veteran talent that a "down season" last winter was fairly predictable.  Agreed?

Agreed. They lost 70% of their scoring two years ago with Arseneault, Grotberg and Long. Not just scoring but a lot of MWC tourney and late game experience.

Last years team reminds me of the year after Steve Wood left. They went 8-15. Then the "Big three's" class came in and went 15-9 and 10-6 in conference, putting them third in conference. So since last year was the down year, this year they should I guess get 3rd in conference by that logic.

Monmouth beat the Knox Satire pretty handily last weekend.   ;)

Here I thought Roop was suggesting that Lawrence was a V6 or a Wankel or something.

LU begins their season tonight at home against some random team from some small town in Wisconsin that's owned by a guy....Steven or something like that.  Or at least Steven owns a Point in that town....

I guess they must be the first team we play because they got a #1 by their name...or something like that....

In all seriousness, this will be a huge test for LU.  after losing Dekker and others, it easily could be a long season for the Vikes.  Tonight wil be a good game to base just how long a season it will be.  if LU can come out and stay with Point, then I think LU may do better then their projected 8th place finish.  If Point comes out and beats them by 30.....it might be a long winter in Appleton....

I'd imagine that LU would finish better than eighth this year. I can't see them falling that far after being so successful in the past. Even after they lost Briar, MacGillis, Bradley and others they still finished fifth.

How was JoJo's recruiting class? Do we know anything about his players?

Here's an article on them.  I don't know much about them.  I know they are pretty high on the  Siebert kid, but the rest of the freshmen class looks kind of underwhelming....

Even though SP won last year's match up, the defeat from two years ago at the Alex is still fresh in these guys' minds.  I expect Point will come out pretty focused and likely will bring a decent sized crowd too.

No, see that would be Steven's Point, which is incorrect.  In fact, it is a point on the map which is named after a guy named Stevens.  Therefore, Stevens Point.  And please, not Stephens Point either, as it occasionally shows up on non-conference schedules.  :D

LU may want to get the towel ready. Point by 19 at the half.
