+K to The Big Roop, since mine is starting to trickle away for some unknown reason.   ???  ;)
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

PC Police have found the MWC board I believe. Fine, let them be that way..............

I caught my wife with the mailman yesterday. She says "Please don't tell the milkman"

Well, if your wife is spending much time with both of them, you will enjoy this video.

I don't mind the milkman but we owe the butcher quite a bit and she should work that balance down first.

Good luck to GC in their matchup with Knox tonight!

No conference record in fouls matters as GC does not get callled for more than 40% of the fouls they make.

Are my eyes deceiving me or did Beloit actually beat St. Norbert 62-50 tonight? If so, what a great break through game for the Bucs, after an ugly home lost to Illinois College on Saturday.

The Roop

They made their free throws and didn't have any extended defensive lapses. The talent is there to compete with anybody and tonight's game proves it. Ken Burns effect on the video again so I gave up on trying to watch.

Nice win for GC at home last night, 132 - 120. Griffin Lentsch had the hot hand but what impressed me more was the balanced quality play across all 3 squads. Even a late rally by Knox (who suddenly decided it would play a 3 pt game) was rebuffed with some patient play and well-thought-out shooting. It *seems* like the team has started to settle down and play more consistently through BOTH halves. This is a good thing.

Lots of steals from Valdez (who still is a bit foul happy), Maher, Bellamy, and Skelly. This freshman class is one of the best I've seen in years. And it's unusual - pleasant, but unusual - to see GC tower over its opponents. That height definitely was a key factor in their win.

Looking forward to meeting the 'other' Pioneers on Sat!

Uh, News Flash...they're all a bit foul happy  :)

I hate to admit that I predicted a 79-71 loss for the Scots last night.  I was close with the 82-69 final.  Anyone that hasn't watched IC play in the last 2-3 years should go to a game just to see #15 Tucker.  The guy jumps out of the gym and had his head by the rim in a break-away dunk last night.  Pretty special for 5'10"....and he's not even their All-American high jumper - #11 Binkley went 6'9" last spring (but lost to our National Champion  ;D)

All conference wins are nice wins, so on that point, I'd have to agree. However, the Grinnell performance against Knox last night left a lot to be desired (like the second half). In the first half GC was  slashing to the basket, rebounding, making the traps work enroute to a 20 point lead. I thought that in the second half they got cautious and held the ball too long on a number of occasions and ended up with bad shots or turnovers. Surprised we only had 12 TO, seemed like more.

It could have been 4 games in 6 days. Better rest those legs boys, for Carroll on Saturday.

Knox has some nice players. Why they didn't have Wetherbee shooting to 3 ball the whole game I'll never know. The kid put on a show for 2 minutes. Carlson looked good and Jones has the potential to be a star. They will win a few, that's for sure. I thought coach Purlee did a good job in the second half; timely defensive switches, judicious use of the timeout, fixing the offense to open things up.

One last thing. Has the NCAA eliminated the charging call this year? Just askin'.

OBC

Oh yeah, Kudos to the Beloit Buccaneers for their big thrashing of St. Norbert last night. I did NOT see that coming.

It hasn't been eliminated. It's simply an easier motion to signal a blocking foul. So 9 times out of 10 player collisions you the the blocking call.
