SNC 36, GC 31 at the half

lots of trouble connecting on the 3s for GC, plus (at least for a while) some iffy reffing. SNC playing a disciplined game but the GC defense seems to be wearing on them. It's anyone's game at this point.

two words: cold shooting.

congrats to GC for an impressive season!

No kidding. It was a 3 point game and then Grinnell when 0-for next week. That was the game in a nutshell.

System Error

I watched the IC-GC game yesterday but trying to watch the live feed tonight was just unbearable. Constant freezing made it absolutely unbearable to watch. I hear they lost and did not shoot well at all. Their defense was tough holding St. Norberts in the 80s, but Grinnell only scoring 62? Wow. Their defense has carried them all season but if you can't make shots, you are not going to win against a disciplined St. Norbert. Great season to finish out on season. Congrats.

Of course, Grinnell just had an off night shooting. St. Norbert's defense couldn't have possibly had anything to do with Grinnell shooting poorly. That said, Grinnell will be a tough out the next couple of years.

Just in case anyone in charge of the webcast checks this board, I wanted to say that I watched most of the women's championship game on Saturday, and I had no problems at all. The video was fine and the score was updated regularly. Obviously, there was a high level of excitement in the announcers' voices when St. Norbert did something well, but I thought they tried to give Monmouth some praise throughout the game, too. Good luck to both St. Norbert teams in the NCAA tournament.

dangler, the two aren't mutually exclusive...

I thought Norbs played very well and, yes, their defense made some of the difference in Grinnell's shooting, but the pioneers also missed some open shots that could have put them back in the game.

I thought the fouls and the FT shooting was the difference. Norbs came real close to getting some key players in foul trouble, but they avoided disaster and they did a very good job of making their FTs. They did what they needed to win, and congrats to them.

Schwanman, I was able to watch most of the game after I restarted my computer. When I first got back on, the announcers were enjoying some of the Norbs play and seem to lose track of the score during that time. Rest of the game was OK. They were as much homers as I would expect any group to be in this situation, so I really didn't have a problem with that. I was just trying to get the score after picking up the game late, and it took 4 or 5 minutes to get it.

I finally found the box score online and kept checking that. Downside was the boxscore was ahead of the broadcast, so I knew what was going to happen!  ;) As a grinnell fan, that was a problem.

A 20-5 St. Norbert probably gets seeded high enough to not have to play the host school in the 1st round; but they've done that before. Impress me this time in the 2nd round.

I'm guessing SNC goes to Augustana and plays the first game against another midwest team, possibly Luther or a Hope again while Augie plays Concordia, WI or Northwestern, MN

I'm pretty sure that Concordia, WI will host... they were the #1 team in the Midwest.... that'll be bumped down to #2, behind Augustana, but I think that CUW's resume is pretty darn good to host.

scottie

Live feed from Scottie's laptop - BAD!

Live feed from Scottie's office after he couldn't take it any longer - GOOD!

You can never say the score too many times. :/

The women's game was a MWCTV instant classic.

Monmouth has a great quarterback, so all good men's bball coaching candidates should apply....or something like that.  :)

HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

Should be an interesting bracket but don't be surprised if Augie gets bumped into the west. I guess we will know this afternoon.

I think they'll BOTH host.  Of the 61 teams, 16 will host first/second round pods... so that's likely at least 2 each from the West and Midwest, and  CUW was #1 in the Midwest (likely dropping back to #2 after their Semi-final NAthCon loss).

Doesn't look very big...

But per their stats on the NAthCon page, they had two games over 1000, which I believe is the threashold for hosting a pod.  These are, of course, self-reported attendence stats... but one would think that they wouldn't post attendence above their capacity, unless it was standing room only (which wouldn't count for NCAA purposes).

... If only the NCAA hadn't gone to these first/second round pods...!  It would give twice as many schools the opportunity to host a first round game!
