I know it's a long shot but once you remove the Pool A teams everybody else moves up. I'm guessing 4 Pool As are regionally ranked. I could look but I'm just getting home from work and am having a beer, so I don't really care right now.

Congratulations to the Pioneers on their Midwest Conference Tournament championship. It just sounds so good to say it.

Now let's (MWC) win a few games in the NCAAs.

"The U" comes out of nowhere as a tie-breaker #4 seed and wins the MWC.....proof that this is the strongest conference in the country.   ;)

Can somebody post any articles following the tournament in which the Carroll folks are quoted?  I want to read the part where they say, "We're just glad Monmouth wasn't in the tournament this year."   :D

.....Will be interested in seeing what the pairings look like - on the women's side - as the Good Girls (TM pending) splash onto the scene.  The scottiesighting meter is on alert.   8-)

Lake Forest gets shut out based on Strength of schedule concerns.  Carroll goes to Transylvania.....

No, I'd say Lake Forest got left out because of Edgewood and River Falls pulling upsets. The NCAA certainly did get it's 500 miles worth by sending Carroll to Lexington though. Might actually be a good thing for MWC fans though. They have as good a chance as anybody to come out of that bracket.

I haven't read any articles that has Carroll mentioning they are glad they didn't run into Monmouth in the tournament but I wouldn't be surprised if they felt that way. Just think, if Carroll takes the championship Monmouth can say they went 2-0 against the national champs. How many teams all-time do you think can claim that?

As for Carroll's placement in the bracket, I have to say I'm excited. Can anyone tell me the lat time an MWC team couldn't face a CCIW or WIAC team the first weekend? Hopefully Carroll can repeat the run they had in 2007. They entered the NCAA Tournament in a similar style, peaking at the right time. I believe the 2007 team was better than this one but this pod is a lot easier than the 2007 one faced with road games at #7 Augustana and #5 St. Thomas.

1977 Beloit vs. Hamline, 1980 Beloit vs. Jersey City St., 1981 Beloit vs. William Penn, 198? Ripon vs. somebody from Indiana, 1989 Beloit vs, Monmouth, 2007 Lawrence vs. Washington University. I may have missed a few but your criteria does happen on occassion.

As for Carroll fans travelling to Lexington, I recommend the Hyatt. The Sunday buffet is well worth it. While you are in walking distance to Transy I suggest a cab to and from the games as Trany isn't located in the best part of town. Have the cabbie swing by Indi's after the game and pick up some chicken. Spicy.

For your nights out on the town there is a club across the street from Rupp Arena that I always liked. Not sure what the name is as they changed names and themes about every 6 months when I lived there. DeSha's has good food and isn't overly priced.

No, Roop, larry_u is correct. LFC got left out because the Foresters had an inadequate SOS. Their opponents' winning percentage was .516. Illinois Wesleyan's was .540. The Titans played nine in-region regionally-ranked teams; the Foresters played one. Thus, IWU got moved ahead of LFC in the final Midwest Region ranking and slid into one of the last Pool C bids, leaving the Foresters out in the cold.

Edgewood and UWRF won Pool A bids. They would've been in the tournament regardless. And neither displaced a team that was therefore forced to take a Pool C berth; both UWW and UWSP would've each gotten one, anyway.

Get there a day early and watch UK play Georgia at Rupp Thursday night.  Then cross it off your list.

I don't want to be greedy, so I'll settle for this....."Monmouth went 2-0 against the MWC conference tournament champs."

Not sure I agree. Edgewood needed to be a Pool A in my opinion. Play off caliber teams shouldn't lose some of the games they did and they only beat North Park by 1 at home.  :o

Edgewood is a Pool A, Roop. The NAthCon is a one-bid league this season.

Stop the factual barrage. The MWC didn't deserve 2 in and that's why they didn't get them.

I think he meant that each of the top 3 WIAC teams were locks... so whether Point, Whitewater, or River Falls won the automatic bid, the other two would still get in.

They are still 18-5 in region and own two wins over the regular season champs. Whether this puts them in the field or not they should be on the board at least and get consideration.

Warren Buffetts secretary is on the selection committee this year I've heard.
It *was* an ugly game. GC came out flat and stayed there. Shots didn't connect and some poor defensive play.

Nonetheless - a great season for GC and some incredible strength coming into next year. Congrats, guys!
