It may not count, Scottie. If not, I guess they will just have to try again.

...this is one of those nights when you skate out the big guy and remove somebody (the coach, too)....ps. how can something be an NCAA record when the sacrificial lamb is not an NCAA program ?.....

jeffp

So, your saying if you can't beat 'em hurt 'em? "childboard".

The most impressive thing about the game was Taylor's stamina. The kid was in the game 36 minutes - not unusual for a 'normal' team, but abnormal for Grinnell. Tossing up 108 shots in *any* game is impressive. Sinking 3 pointers while being double and triple teamed in the final quarter - and being obviously bushed - amazing. Simply amazing.

Greek Tragedy

By no means am I going to defend Grinnell. I guess I dont care that much to take one side or the other.

But, how about blaming Faith Baptist a little. There is a school of thought if you dont want someone to run up the score, its your duty to stop them. You cant tell me the coaching staff cant see whats happening. Put a guy on Taylor and play 4 on 4. Heck, put two guys on him and let the other guys score. Ive been to several Grinnell games over the years. There are plenty of ways to slow down the system, no matter how bad you are. I blame Grinnell for going outside the system to break the record, but also blame Faith Baptist for letting it happen.

gee whiz! Where was all the howling when GC was getting clubbed by 70 points or more   over and over again in Football, huh? Oh. You say that has been posted before and you have some excuse for why it doesn't relate? BFD. You guys are gonna drive me back to games yet with all this yammering about how disgusting GC is. No wonder the sub heading under men's basketball is "Childboards".
GO GRINNELL! RACK EM UP AND SHOOT EM DOWN!

In those games where GC was "getting clubbed by 70 points or more" was the leading scorer for the opposing team scoring 26 points in the last 5 minutes? Was the team's strategy to try to embarrass GC by attempting a contrived record against a clearly overmatched foe?

I wonder how Griffin Lentsch felt... Jack Taylor's contrived record smashed Griffin's contrived DIII record from last year.

Heya, Scottie! Hard tellin' how much I'll be here (snakes are supposed to kinda hibernate in the winter ya know) but always great to reconnect!

No surprise to see the "jeffs" acting as their typical Grinnell apologists.  They do this every year, Taylor this year, Lensch last year, Little A and the dubious assist record the year before.

It was sad and a sham then, and it still is today.  The worst part is that anyone who actually knows about Grinnell knows exactly how this happened, but yet they are still getting all the positive national attention.  Hell, Taylor was on the Today Show this morning, in front of a huge Grinnell banner and said he was pretty much been doing non-stop interviews since last night.  Its nothing more then a publicity stunt, and in that case, Grinnell is no better then a Kardashian.

If Taylor even gets close against a real opponent, then congrats.  However the team they pulled this against I'm positive a good Minnesota high school team could beat.  Their tallest player was 6'4.  They had 10 players on their entire roster.  Their closest game prior to this was a 16 point loss to Northland International.  Not Northland, but Northland International Bible College.

Just another picture of the system turning into more and more of a circus every year.  I'm sure either of the Arsenaults will say that thi was a good thing for basketball, etc.  They keep this up, and it will only be the Jefflike apologists who will believe them, if we aren't allready to that point.

Great post Larry.  whey your team is up by 40 at the half, its time to put the breaks on.  Instead they went out to embarrass an overmatched opponent in hopes of gaining national attention.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgement day,

Looked to me like they're just having fun playing basketball.  The point of the game is to put the ball in the hoop--period.  Faith Baptist certainly knew about the system when they scheduled this game.  It's not like Grinnell rolled out a new secret weapon; this is what they DO and have done for years.  It really doesn't make a lot of sense to me why anyone would complain about  or criticize this.
