Another Grinnell chokejob....color me surprised  :o

Congrats to SNC, but they get no gift getting UWSP in the first round.....

You might be looking at Pat's projection instead of the actual bracket.

Note to self- posting while hopped up on cold drugs leads to reading things that aren't always what you think they are.

However, still a tough test for SNC.  Wheaton is never a fun place to play, but yes slightly more winnable then the Point game may have been.

Because of the geographical location and the overall strength of the Midwest (geographically speaking, not regional), teams from the MWC and the Wisconsin-based NathCon teams will always get a CCIW or WIAC team.  Breaking into the Regional Rankings will be even harder for teams like St. Norbert next year and beyond with the shuffling of regions...the WIAC teams will now be clustered with the MWC and CCIW, to name a few, in a newly named Central Region.

That isn't until 2014-15.

It's probably better to choke in the NCAA Tournament than to, say, lose by 25 points at home to your archrival to keep you out of the conference tournament for the fourth straight year. Now THAT would be embarrassing!

sncdangler - sure wish you had been around this year. It might have livened things up a bit. IMHO, yours is the team to beat the next few seasons. My team is gonna need an influx of good 1st year talent to keep up, but should be competitive.

Frankly, one would think blowing a huge lead in a NCAA game which is much more widely viewed would be much more embarrassing, but having never had a team choke away  a 14 point lead at halftime of a NCAA game, I wouldn't know that shame.

In a standard sub-par year for the MWC, yes I agree.  However, it has been shown that teams can escape the WIAC/CCIW trap and advance, or play well enough during the regular season to get that MWC or Nathcon team to come to you.  The MWC is still better at basketball than it is in football where whatever team wins usually rolls over easily.

Blowing a 14-point lead in the D3 tourney > not even making your conference tourney, let alone the D3 tourney.

Given the MWC's tradition of one-and-done performances in the D3 tourney, I don't think that St. Norbert has anything to be ashamed about. The Green Knights lost to a very good Wheaton team in a game that went down to the final buzzer on Wheaton's home floor. That finished a season in which SNC won both the Midwest Conference title and the Midwest Conference tournament title. It was a highly successful season for St. Norbert by any reasonable MWC standard.

Lawrence finished in a fourth-place tie and failed to make the MWC tourney. Speaking as a purely neutral observer, I don't see the justification for a Lawrence fan to point a mocking finger at St. Norbert. The truth, larry_u, is that you'd gladly have LU trade places with SNC if you could, second-half collapse at Wheaton and all.

Thank you you took the words right out of my mouth. larry_u is still hoping John Tharp comes back from Hillsdale to rescue the Vikings from the depths of mediocrity. I've lost count of SNC's winning streak over LU. Is it at double digits yet?
