Harps claimed to be Swedish after he was in the NBA.

Yes, I know. I told you that story about Harps, which is yet another sign of your advancing senility, O Rupetastically Ancient One. :D

Not to go all schadenfreude on you, but this makes me feel marginally better about Tuesday night.

Getting down 17-3 early in the first half can do that.

Was a bit surprised by the result myself. Wasn't expecting a whole lot out of the alma mater this year but it seems they could have a team that can fly under the radar in the NACC.

I believe that would be an "in region" loss.  Better win the MWC tourney.

You got that right. That was one they shouldn't have dropped but 34.5% shooting will do that to a team. Lots of air balls on open looks, yikes.... And Captain Joe, it was actually 19-3 at one point.

While there is no magic number in DIII it's pretty obvious after last night that they will need 19 wins to be a Pool C contender. Gotta win the ones you're supposed to.

In general. I'm not crazy about the emphasis on calling the hand checking this year. Perhaps once conference play begins and the pre-season is over that will settle down. Had to throw that one in for Sager. LOL.

OBC

WUH: "Apparently, the finger never lands on Field Goal Percentage, Rebounds, Blocked Shots, and Steals. Let me know when Coach Arseneault turns to page 3."

This is true in reference to NCAA records. However, Grinnell consistently has players among the MWC leaders in ALL these categories, and occasionally among the national leaders as well. Might as well add in assist/turnover ratio where the Pioneers have had national champions in recent memory.

Careful OBC, your facts may not fit THEIR facts...
Good Luck to everyone in the MWC this weekend, except IC of course!
If I don't show up here for days, don't count your blessings for more than a short period. As a retired couple, we seem to be able to go away whenever we want. Even to places that don't have internet access. ;)

Another point of view:

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/10009589/jack-taylor-grinnell-basketball

some choice quotes:

"After Taylor's 109 points on Sunday, 50 new recruits sent in their tapes."

""I get people all the time thinking I'm going to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft," Taylor says. "They just don't get it."

"Maybe this will shut up all the buzzkill columnists who say Grinnell's program is a sham and an embarrassment and an obscenity to college basketball.

"Of course it's a sham," says Grinnell's irrepressibly fun head coach, Dave Arseneault Sr. "We're as surprised as anybody. It's a sham in the sense of we really emphasize having fun. Everybody else takes sports so seriously. We're just having fun.""

Doesn't Beloit have the most wired community east of Silicon Valley?  The Ken Hendricks T-1 superhighway or something like that?

So Grinnell's the NCAA's biggest intramural team?

I am also of the "My University, right or wrong" ilk so I understand where you are coming from, but you shouldn't take the forums too seriously.  You definitely shouldn't take anything I say seriously.
