Dangler, your team won, I get that. Ask anybody on this board, I don't complain about officiating unless it's bad.

If it's bad it's likely awful both ways, and in this case it was. It had zero bearing on the outcome of the game. I would guess that my esteemed colleague Appleton Rocks would say it had an outcome Lawrence's game at Ripon on Wednesday, but when you take more shots from 20+ feet than you do inside that distance you're not going to get to the line either and thus the officiating appears to be "bad" or "biased."

In the true nanny state viewpoint that persists throughout the MWC, they are trying to help you not put on the pounds during the winter months.  :o   And the cost for electricity for the Nesco roaster is higher in winter, too. Until there is a wind farm on the campus, pricing variability will continue.  :-[

So the solar panels on top of the new science building/money pit aren't helping ??

Well scottie if your assistants, assistants, intern can make the trip I will count that as a scottie sighting ™. As I understand it Mav lives close enough so there won't be any pro-bono MavMoments ™ granted; especially for a weekend game.

Dangler, your team won, I get that. Ask anybody on this board, I don't complain about officiating unless it's bad.

As I see it the conference tournament starts for the Bucs on Saturday. They had one game to play with and it got away. 9-7 won't make it so it's run the table mode. Given the tie breaking scenarios a 10-6 record is likely required for them to get in. In any event, the hot dogs are still great. Why they are $2 at basketball games and only $1 at football games is beyond me. Can't be based on attendance and projected sales as you have the same number in the stands at either venue.

Unfortunately, don't count on any MavMoments this weekend either.  Despite living reasonably close enough to America's Team to make an appearance, I've got other commitments in front of me.  I actually live even closer to the Good Guys, but haven't even been able to find a chance to see them in person yet this season.  And as far as my intern's assistant, well just nevermind...I don't have the deep pockets of a guy like scottie to make that happen either.

Moving on to hot dogs...you have the same number in the stands at football games as you do at basketball games??

Sorry, I forgot about those.  32 year payback I recall.  University President who posed for holy pictures will be dead and forgotten before the payoff is met.  >:(

The Roop took a little license with that statement:

2013 Beloit football average home attendance: 1,200
2013-14 Beloit men's basketball average home attendance (to date): 590

Lawrence is the MWC school that comes closest to a balance between home football attendance and home men's basketball attendance:

2013 Lawrence football average home attendance: 1,035
2013-14 Lawrence men's basketball average home attendance (to date): 826

All of the other MWC schools follow the typical college sports paradigm of having a large imbalance in favor of football. Most MWC schools have a 2:1, or even a 3:1, ratio per game of football attendees to men's basketball attendees. Grinnell is one of the rare exceptions to be found anywhere:

2013 Grinnell football average home attendance: 519
2013-14 Grinnell men's basketball average home attendance: 936

Having the same number of fans at a typical men's basketball game as you have at a typical football game would not be a bad thing if your football team drew like St. John's.

I have no involvement with the audio programming for half time or times out.

Not a bad game today, I've seen better. Both teams shared streaks of hot and cold. Officials were consistent in calling a foul every 1:45 on average whether there was a foul or not. Beloit simply got hot in the last few minutes and Monmouth couldn't get the lid off the basket.

One thing I'm not sure I've ever seen before was a blocking foul when two players were going for a loose ball. Pretty irrelevant as Monmouth would have gotten the ball out of bounds anyway.

Americas Team 75 The Good Guys 61. Margin is a little deceptive.

I see Larry and Carol have a date Wednesday night.  Does not appear that either of them wants to go dancing this year.  :D

Actually, A-Rock: That game and others are TONIGHT.  Get the webcast fired up to distract you during the Pen & Phone sermon tonight.   ;D

Good luck to the Frosh/Sophs!

Whoa scottie, I believe there needs to be a quorum before abbreviations can be made. However, I will make a friendly motion that "A-Rock" is acceptable.

Americas Most Wanted 76 Americas Team 71. Same story for 40 years, if Ripon makes a basket in the last 5 minutes the other team always committed a foul. You'd think Weiske was still buying refs coaching.

The Frosh/Sophs go down shooting, but fire the last few shots into their feet as America's Most Records wins the, ahem  :D, basketball game 121-115.  The Pioneers fouled the Good Guys the into the double bonus with TWELVE MINUTES LEFT so the, ahem  :D, game (FT contest) seemed to take about as long as the Super Bowl.  Had the Good Guys been able to make a few more FTs (and attempt one less dunk.... :-X) things might have been different.  Oh, well, kudos to the Silent Jeffs!  ;)

As a consolation, at least the youngsters woke up Big A from the end of the bench and he got to patrol the sidelines again for the last few minutes and hold Little A's hand to the buzzer.

Keep working hard, Scots.  Your year is coming soon.
