Wait a second....this is the same team that was picked from the beginning of the season by almost everyone to be at or near the bottom of the league. Yes it has been disapointing to see what has happened the last couple of games, and that it looks like they missed out on a great chance to make the tourny, however, here is a bottom of the league pick still in the hunt for a playoff spot coming into the last week of the season. So lets see.....picked 8th in coaches poll...most had them picked 10th to 8th and there still hanging around....hmmm ...seems theyve done better than expected.

Right you are.  Picked to finish 8th and looks like they will wind up 6th.  Quite an achievment.  Where do I pick up my coach of the year ballot?

I am sorry I missed the Grinnell game as I always enjoy watching them play.  That weekend appears to be a prime example of Beloit basketball the past few seasons.  Play a great game against a good Grinnell team for a much needed win but do it the day after dropping a home game to a Monmouth club that had one MWC win up until that time.

My prediction before the season was that this team would finish below :500 and miss the playoffs.  It looks like I will be right.  I really like the freshman  point guard  and Horton has a big upside.  Other Freshman are roll players but thats ok, you need them in any class.  They have two players with ability who will be a Senior next year and no real help in next years Junior class (unless their one player in that class makes huge strides.)  Barring a huge talent influx in this years recruiting class  I'll make the same prediction next year

I don't think words can describe how pumped I am about wed nite Carroll is on a roll and LU has to come to Van Male the hardest place to play in the confernce, and it will be rockin!!

Yeah I too am excited about the game one Wednesday, and might even allow that Carroll is the favorite what with them being at home. I am curious, though, about your claim that Van Male is the hardest place to play in the conference (or confernce). Are you saying that because you actually think it's true, or are you saying that to try to convince yourself it's true? Either way, Carroll's max attendence at a game this year was just above 800, with the average closer to around 520, while Lawrence's low attendence this year was 1209, with the average closer to around 1300. I know fans aren't everything, and I have been to Carroll and I'll give you guys credit, you are a vocal, vulgar bunch. Not to mention big -- does everyone at Carroll play football? But still, with an average far less than half the crowd that shows up at Alexander, maybe you should save the thoughtless comments for the game this Wednesday.

Unless you guys are playing on tall hoops in Waukesha... that could make a difference. Either way, I look forward to being insulted by your fan base for being skinny and puny and you should look forward to me shying away from most physical confrontations because many of you could, quite literally, eat me for breakfast. Oh yea, yay basketball!

In the WIAC, they call fans like the Carroll football guys "slush heads".

We call them meatheads, but really it might be meat or slush that's in there. What's important is it isn't brains.

wwallacecc

slush...meat...it's all the same to me!  they both seem to be much tastier contents for a skull than brains...and subsequently being called a meat head loses its sting after about a thousand times.

most of our fan base actually is the football team.  we've got a good thing goin at carroll and we love gettin out there and supporting our guys.  nelson i like your style...on banya's behalf i have to say that on some nights carroll can be the toughest team to play at home and some nights not.  i have actually been disappointed overall with the student turnouts this year.  i can tell you that wednesday night will be above and beyond expectation, but also that we have had to clean up our act alittle bit as well...so bring the kids!

oh...big props to bo johnson on that sweet dunk yesterday!  how does that oaf muff a dunk at his height!!!  between that and him falling on his on the new ripon R, he's a walking blooper reel.  also, big props to ripons rowdy student section who showed up with 48 seconds left in the game....you're a joke!  and did anyone know that ripon's announcer has a son at carroll???  i don't know him but as soon as i do, i'm sneaking his freshman ass into the bars and going a few rounds with jose!

see you all in town wednesday for the game of the year!

just livin' the dream...

Indeed, Hoops Fan, it will be. Grinnell is now in and looking to become a 3rd seed with just one win. Knox has the easiest go of the two contenders for the 4th spot. After they lose to Grinnell on Wednesday they need to win on Saturday and BC needs to lose one of their remaining games. If they tie at 8-8, it looks like BC goes (right? they did beat KC twice during the regular season and would own one win over GC and one over CC) so there is still much  to be decided.

titan2000

If Grinnell comes to Larry for the MWC tourney, the local Rotary club is going to rent the front lawn at Alex and bring in some elephants and donkey rides to go along with the circus act that is the System.  ;D

Carroll fans, as much as you will want to, please do not try to amuse yourselves with the donkeys.  :o

Ripon guys, come on over and see some good basketball.   ;)

Any Knox win or any Beloit loss would result in Knox clinching the 4th spot.  Beloit has Ripon (who has nothing to play for) and Carroll (who if they win against Lawrence will need the game in a huge way and if they lose may feel they need it to keep hopes alive of a second NCAA bid) at home while Knox has IC at home on Saturday.

No such worries about playoff spots, seeds, etc. for the Scots right now unfortunately.  Just one more game left to get this disappointing season over with (at Illinois C.)  Hopefully they can pick up a final win in Jacksonville, put this season in the rear-view mirror, and only remember it as a year full of missed opportunities.  And what happened to Snydz?!  He hasn't posted on the hoops board at all lately...

Big props to CC for their first winning football season since 96-97 ('06: 6-3, '05 3-7, '04 3-9, 03' 1-9...etc.).  Maybe that's why so many football players have converted to worshiping CC basketball...it's been a while for you CC football players and I think you are now going crazy knowing what it feels like to win...you don't know how to handle yourself, I understand.  With CC having any many wins this year as an entire football program does in 4...man must be OVERLOAD.

That's just my crazy theory

Classy underage comment...a lot of us on this board who are Ripon fans know that kid

How could anyone miss a dunk at 6'4''??? Ask Braier....what a bad player he is!

Speaking of which, thanks for the suggestion Titan2k.  I work in Waukesha so I might check them out so I know what two good teams look like!!!

JUSTINTYEM

ASK BRAIER??? When have you even seen him attempt a dunk??? IN 4 years i have yet to see him attempt one.He would rather get the bigtime lookaway pass than attemp a dunk or a sick lay-up.So get your facts straight BRAIER HAS NEVER MISSED A DUNK AT LARRY cause he hasnt even attempted one!!!!!
Im a Retired Radio Sportscaster.

Am I on the LMC board?

1) 6'4" kids are allowed to miss dunks. My personal rule is don't even try unless you know its going down, but 6'4" is not a giant by any means.  Now, if really tall kids misses a dunk...
2) JUSTINTYME - read mwc4life's post again. He wasn't doggin' on Braier (at least I didn't read it that way)...i think he was saying that not dunking doesn't mean you suck
3) Vikes by 2 at Carroll...my official prediction.
4) C'mon Knox...you haven't been to the MWC tourney in what seems like forever. Make it happen.

dunking doesnt mean a whole lot, but if you are 6'4 and cant do it, it could be labeled a pathetic show of athleticism.
anyone over 6' should at least be able to get one down in practice...

it hasnt been that long for knox, i believe MC is the only southern school that hasnt been in forever (7or 8 seasons)...
I could be wrong, but I doubt it....
