Ouch, Carroll gets IWU in the first round at Whitewater.

I love Lu's bracket.  I think they have a definate chance at the final four.  St Thomas or North central in the second round at home is definately winnable, and then a sweet sixteen sectional of probably Puget Sound, Uw-Whitewater and either Stout, IWU or Carroll...which could probably be hosted at LU.  I love the Vikes chances at going on... Now they just have to live up to my expectations.

THe plus side for Lawrence and Carroll is that they will face their stiffest competition closer to home.  I think there's an outside chance Lawrence could host a sectional, which would give them home court for some of their hardest games.  You can complain about the bracket, but its about as good as Larry could have hoped for.

Greek Tragedy

I'd like to be the first one to congratulate Lawrence on getting past the first round for the 3rd consecutive year!  Great job, boys! lol.

In all seriousness...Lawrence will have every chance to prove their worth this year.  They have some monster games to look ahead to.  In the 2nd round, they take on Power Conference member North Central, who won the CCIW tourney.

Next up, they could face another power conference member, Whitewater, champion of both the WIAC regular season And the tourney...or CCIW and formerly ranked #1 Ill. Wes OR fellow conference foe Carroll (who beat Whitewater earlier in the year)...wow.  Tough road, just to start!

Really?  That's gotta be one of the toughest sub-sectionals (two regionals, upper bracket of a sectional) that there can be!

You have two CCIW teams, the WIAC champion and then your toughest conference foe.  The only other sub-sectional that is probably harder is the one that includes Hope, Calvin, La Crosse, Wittenberg, Carnegie Mellon and Baldwin Wallace.

I wouldn't just assume that North Central's going to beat St. Thomas on Thursday, OS. After all, the game's going to be played at Schoenecker Hall in the Twin Cities, home court of the Tommies.

I think the LU bracket sucks, probably the toughest draws.  Home would be nice but I have my doubts the NCAA will have games at Alex if they can have them in a bigger venue, e.g. Whitewater.

I'm not saying its easy, but the Midwest is just always going to be stacked, no matter what.  I've been looking at these brackets for hours and there is just no way to get around a loaded bracket.  What they do have going for them is the home court.  At least their toughest competition will come at home.  I can't see anyone (maybe Whitewater) getting sectional hosting duty besides Lawrence.  It's not fair, but it is probably the best they could have hoped for.

I understand that.  I didn't mean to say it in that manner.  There was that possibility they could take on CCIW tourney champ North Central.  I don't assume anything in the NCAA tourney, except that the LMC rep will get spanked! lol.  Saying that they could take on a team from the power conference such as the CCIW sounded more intimidating than taking on the MIAC champ! lol.  No offense to those MIACers since Gusto did beat Point at Quandt and finished 2nd in 2000 (?)...

Are you sure you want to climb out that far on the limb, OS? I mean, after all, mighty Wisconsin Lutheran is a robust 14-14 on the year.

Man, Wisconsin Lutheran is being fed to the lions. It's just them, Hope, and 3,200 orange-clad close personal friends of Glen Van Wieren. It could be Williams vs. Cazenovia all over again.

Congrats to Larry and Carroll. I understand that it's probably a geography issue, but it seems a little unfair to the conference that both teams are in the same part of the bracket. If it was a matter of them potentially facing each other in the Sectional Final game to go to Salem, I wouldn't mind, but as it is, they potentially face each other in the Sectional opening round. Damn.

I don't know other team's conferences well enough to know if this happened anywhere else, but Stout and Whitewater are on opposite sides of the Sectional and LaCrosse is in a separate sectional. They (the WIAC) could send three teams to the sectional finals. Is it too much to ask that we get an equal opportunity?!

I'm disappointed because I think with these two teams, the conference had a good chance to get some recognition, and with this draw, they won't have the opportunity to do so.

IWU vs. Carroll= Huge for MWC vs. CCIW bragging rights.  The draw may look tough but this could be a blessing in disguise for the MWC.  Especially if CC beats IWU and LU pounds North Central (or St. Thomas after they beat NC).  A good showing could almost delineate a case for three maybe four MWC tourney teams in the future.  Its all about history correct.  That is why #1 LU wasnt even ranked at the beginning of the year.  Cool, well this is the best way to start making some history.  Good Luck to Larry U and the MWC Pio's North.  This could turn out to be great....
I could be wrong, but I doubt it....

I tried to get on for awhile last night, but the site was totally fried...

Congrats to Larry and Carrie.  I wish a potential rematch was a round or two later, but what can we do now?

Usually in the beginning of the season, we talk about MWC/CCIW match-ups and how the top teams would fare against each other.  It looks like we now get our wish.  GO MWC!
