Greek Tragedy

The only reason Puget Sound hosted two years ago is because Stevens Point was already hosting the women's sectional, and by default, Puget Sound got it since they were the highest seed. The other choices were Lawrence and Sul Ross State...and flying to SRSTU was the same thing, but they were a lower seed.

Being undefeated and the top seed, I believe Lawrence probably deserves to host, but I'd put my money on the winner of UWW-IWU, with the most likely alternative being Augie.

Carroll layed an egg!!! I grew up in Waukesha, I played at Waukesha South (with Julian and
Greg) coach was the best coach in the STATE. He built Carroll to where it is now (not very far...how do you lose to a team THREE times and go ONE and out in the tourny that counts?) Coach can build a program but just like at Waukesha West...he can't win when it counts. He had the best player in state Brian Czarniak but he couldn't win in high school..

Wow,  You played at South with the best coach in the state and Julian.  You must have won a bunch of State Championships.  No way you guys would have failed to win like that West team with Czarniak (who was the best player in the state but I seem to forget which D1 program he went on to on his way to All American status).  I forget which years South won the state title (no way you could have blown it in the state tourney (you know, "the one that matters ") in one and done fashion.  How many state championships did you win? Two? Three ?

Hey guys, looking for a webcast link to tonight's game. The link listed in the LU/UST pdf doesn't seem to be working...unless it just starts right at tip-off.

Anyone there that can help a brother out?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Anyone got any word on the LU game?

Titan32

They just said on the Ill. Wesleyan radio broadcast that LU leads St. Thomas 43-29.

63-59 final...

St Thomas had a chance to tie but missed a three...Kyle Macgillis with a huge three to put lu up 5 with 58 seconds to go...

wow...sounds like the home crowd willed them through..

IWU next Friday...lets hope its at Alex and not down there with both IWU and Augie winning tonight.....

larry_u,

While I think LU deserves to host, I think their chances are essentially nil.  The winner of Puget Sound-Occidental has ZERO chance, since the NCAA is not about to fly 3 teams out there instead of one team here.  But Augie and IWU each have THREE times the capacity of Alex - who do you think they will choose?

I agree, LU being #1 deserves to host the sectional, but I really think Augie will be the host because of their location ans seating capacity.

Illinois Wesleyan won handily tonight.  IW lead 47-27 at halftime.  I wonder how the yahoo's who were not at Carroll's game vs IW and yet criticized their effort in a game that was 60-56 with 4 minutes left will analyze this game.  This was also the first ever NCAA appearance for CC and IW has been a fixture for a long time.  Whitewater ATHOME gets manhandled by IW and never really were in the game.  The same UWW that won the WIAC regular season and post seeson tourney.  I think the people that were at the games both nights would almost all be in agreement that Carroll played IW much tougher and closer then Whitewater.  Unfortunately the arrogance of LU fans makes you almost want to root for IW to win instead of rooting for a fellow MWC team.  That's too bad but not untrue.

I need to amend/apologize for the earlier post.  All MWC fans should root for the  league to do well in the NCAA's. I guess I'm just a little mad that CC got knocked out, but by next friday I'll be ready to give LU good karma.
