Quote from: diehardfan on March 10, 2006, 01:04:46 AMMan, any team would be crazy not to beg Bennett to be their coach, from a basketball standpoint. Wow.  Wow. WOWWWWWWW. I'd love to say something intelligent right now, but I just can't muster a normal reaction to that.  :D It sure would be an interesting to see him come out of retirement, as a new place like that, and build things out of the ground...

It would also be interesting to watch Titan2k's head explode if Bennett moved into the MWC.  :D

OK, I'm just catching up from the crazy amount of posts that came in last night, but most everything is out of date at this point.  However there is one thing that stands out as worth mentioning that you all forgot:

Little Caesar's Pizza for $2 a slice?!?!!

You can get a whole pizza for 5 bucks and you guys are charging two dollars a slice?  That has got to be the biggest rip off since the hot dog and soda for $10 deal I got at Yankee Stadium.

Did you think that Frankensteinbrenner just waved a magic wand and conjured up the eight zillion dollars it takes for him to meet his player payroll?

Scottie's Friday morning ramblings:

1.)  Pat, I hope that the Scots football program is solid enough next season to be mentioned in the same sentence as "Top 25."  (BTW, I read yesterday that MC indoor track has a #4 ranking.  Sweet!)

2.)  Thanks for the support Mav and JeffP - those who, among the recent posters, know me best.  (I just hope that Schwan Man, OFS, FS13, Snydz, et al don't bring up that dual dog-kicking and lollipop-stealing conviction of a few years ago.  I tell you, I was framed!)  WINK!

3.)  Good luck to the Vikes this weekend and safe travels to all who will be attending.

HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

A slice is more like a 1/4 of a pizza. They cut each pizza into 1/4's not 1/8's so its not that big of a ripoff. They make 3 dollars on each pizza about. But with gas to go get it and the money to pay for the right to sell real food they dont smell of roses as much as you think.

I think Pat still thinks we should play the game?

Sure, because "most talented" isn't the same as "best" or "absolutely guaranteed to win every night." :)

Lol...that's why I mentioned the price.  LU is making out pretty well.  It doesn't hurt that the Little Caeser's is only a 5 minute drive away.  :D

The slices are good sized, but not that big.  ;)  IMHO, LU is doing better than this.  In any case, $2 a slice is a pretty normal amt to pay for pizza at a game (even at the D-III level).  What makes it such a steal for LU is the $5 to buy thing.  C'mon now, we've all heard the complaints about Alex.  Where do you think we're getting our (as yet non-existent) renovation money from, the trustees???  ;)

Old Fighting Scot

are there any carrol posters that wish to say which team was better LU or IWU?  Maybe i just missed it, but I am amazed that no one has thrown out that first person comparison yet....

Notes on Scottie,
as my first boss in the good ol Midwest I am going to have to back him as a (Soprano's Like) stand up guy.
I could be wrong, but I doubt it....

When I was in school we just brought our own food and walked past the "No food or drink in the gymnasium" signs.  There is nothing like Chinese take-out and mediocre college basketball!

The best fast-food restaurant in the CCIW, Charcoal Delights (aka "the Pit"), is a two-minute walk from North Park's gym, just across the street and on the other side of the parking lot. When I call it the best fast-food restaurant in the CCIW, it's not bragging on my part; ask any CCIW fan who has made the rounds of the league's various schools, and he or she will tell you the same. Prior to a football or basketball game at NPU, Charcoal Delights is filled with fans wearing visiting colors as well as with alumni of the Park -- and the McDonald's across the street is tellingly empty. Wheaton coach Bill Harris raves about the food there, and Carthage coach Bosko Djurickovic refuses to come to Chicago without paying a visit to Charcoal Delights for his traditional gyros special.

North Park's newly-renovated Viking Lounge, which like Lawrence's concession stand also sells overpriced food items, was mysteriously closed for Saturday evening games this past season. But it would've made a difference only in terms of the school's coffers. Anyone with any sense gets his or her food at Charcoal Delights when they visit NPU for an athletic event.

Keep Charcoal Delights in mind if your team ever visits North Park -- or if you ever happen to be on Chicago's North Side.

That's the biggest rip off since i had to pay $10 for ONE sectional game when I only had to pay $7 for TWO regional games in Whitewater, and that was for a "seatback" (reserved)! lol.

See ya at the Alex.

J, stop taking everything so seriously.  Out of the hundreds of posters who frequent these big boards, like 4 of them ever have maliciously bad things to say.  Usually they are just ragging on people.
