Wouldnt it be interesting if Chris stayed in appleton for one more year and played football at LU and gained the football experience the scout said he needed.
Man, and you guys bust on Grotberg (or those of us who speak highly of him)?!

I hear that the Bopper has decided he'd rather try playing for the Birmingham Barons...after that he's going to make a movie with the Looney Tune characters.  ;D

Here is one reason Arsenault won't be going to Puget Sound:

They play basketball at Puget Sound.

That's nice Scottie, hopefully they will get a bid to the All-Sports National Tournament.  :D

At this point, I think the bid is a toss up between the Scots and Grotberg. ;D

Dang, if GC had played basketball, maybe they would have won the All-Sports Championship instead of placing 2nd. Oh well, maybe next year.  ;)

Hopefully Puget Sound doesn't come calling. ;)
:D Seems possible, since they've definitely seen him coach... he probably wouldn't say yes though... although I'm sure it's a nicer area to live in than Bloomington-Normal.  :)
Sigh ... April, April, April. You're so easily lulled by proximity to salt water, aren't you?  :D You've obviously never been to Tacoma. Ever wondered why they call it "Tacompton" over in the NWC room? Let's just say that Tacoma is not the garden spot of the Great Northwest.  Even I would rather live in Bloomington-Normal than Tacoma. ;)

:P I just feel claustrophobic when I don't have an ocean escape route.  :D :D :D And I have been to Tacoma, as well as Seattle, and Mt Ranier, and Olympic National Park, and Cascades National Park, and Whidbey Island. If I was going to become the next Puget Sound coach, I would probably park my family more in the Port Townsend direction. It's absolutely beautiful around there, and it's in the rain shadow of the Olympics, so it's relatively dry. Yeach, the actual Cities of Tacoma and Seattle aren't all that nice, but you don't actually have to live in the city of Tacoma! There are plenty of nice suburb type areason. And there's Mountains, Temperate Rainforests and the Beach all within an hour or so? How can you beat that??  ??? :P

And yet, strangely, you went to and loved Wheaton... Hmm...  ???  8)

My love for my wheaton education is all about the teachers, community... and sports teams!  :D

The flatness, the weather, and the lack of sunlight and topography of the area drove me batty! If it wasn't for the climate and the geology... well and my sense of adventure, I probably would have stayed there for the rest of my life.  :P

Way to defend your hometown anyway though. :D ;)

NPU has always had a sizeable population of students from western Washington, and Seattle has been a popular destination for postcollegiate types for a couple of decades now. Because of those two facts, I have a number of college friends and acquaintances who live, or have lived, in Seattle. They would strongly dispute your statement that the city isn't "all that nice". On the contrary, lots of young people consider the Emerald City to be one of the hippest and coolest places to live in America -- especially young people who crave the excitement, opportunity, and diversity of a place like Seattle and don't wish to live in a suburb.

Tacoma? Not so much. By comparison it's a rather down-at-the-heels industrial burg that lacks the social and cultural amenities (and the state's major university) that Seattle offers. Even if someone does choose to live in a tony Tacoma suburb such as South Hill or Gig Harbor, he or she may not consider Tacoma all that great a place into which to commute every day.

Everything's relative, though. In spite of the derisive nickname of "Tacompton" seen over in the NWC room (a nickname I've heard used for the city before by Seattleites), I can think of worse cities in which to live and/or work. Bloomington-Normal isn't among them, however.

I dunno how much I actually defended it, though... I mean, I took off pretty much as soon as I could!  ;)

That, however, had less to do with the weather or geography (heck, I went North... if I was worried about weather, then that'd mean I was pretty dumb, huh?) than the proximity to Mr. and Mrs. PointSpecial...  ;D

Sager,

I believe you're showing your age.  The Bay Area is now the "hip" place for all those "crazy cats" to live after college.

Hey Larry people,

How come I haven't seen posts about the CCIW bias for having the Rose story on the front page for so many days?  I've been expecting them; it's sad I have to call for them.

Lol... you're parents have always seemed very nice. :P But I know what you mean. It's sometimes good, no matter how much you love your hometown, to try out and establish yourself somewhere new. Perhaps it says something about our relationship with our parents that you're only a few hours away, and I am 3,000 miles away? :D Juuust kidding mom and dad. :)

I'm sure it doesn't hurt that your current proximity is a lot closer to the future Mrs. Point Special either.  :D ;)

I know it's supposed to be cool, but I didn't think it was all that amazing. Which was disappointing, because when I was growing up, it was always the theoretical place I wanted to live some day. (It was probably at least partially a case of inflated expectations, it isn't terrible or anything.) Whidbey Island is super nice though. And I think taking a ferry to work every day would be super cool. Port Townsend has a great historic feel, and it has a crazy awesome yarn store. :D For cities, I'd pick San Diego, DC, Chicago, or San Fransisco over Seattle. Hopefully, when I go up to Portland, OR next month it won't be as disappointing as Seattle was.  :-\
