I believe the silence in the MWC board is the CCIW board's fault.

The reason for this...ok, not really their fault, but IWU and John Tharp's fault.  Had IWU hired/Tharp accepted that open position, we'd be here EVERY FIVE MINUTES discussing Lawrence's new coaching prospects until it was filled, and then some.  ::) ;D :P

I'm just glad to have my car back. Probably Tharps fault, somehow, that I had trouble anyway. The additional repairs will delay the purchase of a sight for my new bow, but "the season" is still a few months off. I'm a good instinctive shooter anyway so perhaps this is a sign that I don't need to completely "sell out" by getting sights.

   :D

I've come to talk with you again.

If the new bill goes though the Wisconsin House without modification I may postpone my academic endeavors until fall of 2007. Honorably discharged veterans may be able to attend schools in the UW system for free. I like free.

The bigger question is how "The Roop" pulled the honorable discharge in the first place.  You must have saved some general's butt whilst he was using the latrine or something to that effect.

The Roop

While there is no easy answer to that one Hoops, I'll try to keep it short as possible.........

I distinguished myself a time or two with members of local law enforcement and for that reason I was labeled a "#$%&bird" as far as the Corps was concerned. I quickly realized this wasn't a bad thing and used it to my advantage as I had no intention of reenlisting. So I got away with lots of things "text book Marines" never could.

Many traps were set for me during my final year but I never stepped into them. 252 of us were scheduled to get out in 1987 and 246 of us did. A reenlistment rate like that can ruin a Company Commanders career so the option was bust everybody they could to deem them undesirable or transfer them out of the unit.
Since I never took the bait I got transferred to Battalion Headquarters. Certainly LCpl Ruppert will get caught for something there............... Nope.

My new Lt. wasn't very happy to see me at first but after a month or so he realized my reputation was not warranted. When we got our new Battalion Commander I recognized the name immediately as he was Commanding Officer at the Processing Center in Milwaukee when I enlisted. When he first toured and met the HQ Staff I told him a few stories and I was on easy street ever since.

Everybody from Sgts. up to Field Grade Officers (Major and above) tried to pin something on "The Roop" but they never succeeded. Upon discharge I received my highest proficiency and conduct ratings ever. Proficiency 4.9 Conduct 4.5. 5.0 is the max. Not bad for an infantryman filling an administrative billet with no formal training.

That is how "The Roop" got an Honorable Discharge.

And I know you could bounce a quarter off his bed when made.

His shoes were shined so you could see his face in them.

And of course the seargent knew that going to Beloit was a torture worse than any jarhead achieved in an official capacity.

"You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong." Abraham Lincoln

The Roop

No, because the bouncing a quarter thing is an old wives tale.

I did shine my own shoes, I never sold out by buying patent leather ones. Although the heat in 29 Palms would melt the polish in about 10 minutes. So n a way I wasted my time.

And the Sgt. in question didn't study hard enough for a drug test and was discharged with less rank than I had.

Anything else ??

for the love of God...

you know what I love about this board, is that even though this board is totally smack in the middle of the midwest, no one would ever say anything this dumb:

Quote from: tigersports on April 22, 2006, 01:45:34 AMThe "Ghetto" comment was, at best, extremely ill-informed, especially given that there are probably five African-American, non-Oxy students within a three mile radius of campus.

Darn bleach going to people's heads over here.  >:(

Okay, I feel better now... sort of...  :-\

Sorry, but you had to know this was coming...

The Roop could not only bounce a quarter off his freshly made bunk, but could do it without touching the quarter with anything but super-evolved brainwaves.

The Roop's shoes were shined so you could see his face in them, however, if you did, you would be unable to speak for several days.

Well, I didn't think shoe polish would be so useful in the desert, but sure, I guess.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Gorgons and everyone turning to stone because Roops image was burned into the shoes.

In an effort to become more compliant with the NRO, Gobucs has watched Holy Graile about 7 times in the past three days. Life of Brian is next.
