Yeah, I was just in Vegas on my way to the mountains and stopped by the Rio.  The only "qualifying" there is dropping ten grand on a table and signing your name.


By the way, I've never seen more men who look like they haven't left their mom's basement in ten years or more scantilly clad women who looked like they would have given both legs to be somewhere else than I did at the World Series of Poker.  It just totally feeds into the whole "pathetic" vibe that Vegas gives off.  Truly a sad experience for me.

I think Daniel Negreanu, one of the best poker pros in the world and 2004 Player of the Year, lives with his mother...or she lives with him.    She makes him meals for "work". lol. 

Popularity has become poker's worst enemy.  Gone are the days where you actually had pros at the final table.  Allan Cunningham is the only recognizable player I know at this year's final table.  Of course, without the poker craze, I wouldn't know anything about Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Texas Dolly, Phil Hellmuth etc.  With the Game Show Network's High Stakes Home Games (which are really insane with known pros with stacks of $10,000), Travel Channel's World Poker Tour, ESPN's W.S.O.P., Fox Sports' Poker challenges and Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown, it's only a matter of time that a 24-hour Poker channel will pop up.

All those kids are just "internet pros" living in the basements of their parents but still probably making a lot more than us...or losing a lot more than us! lol.  I play online once in awhile, but more for fun.  I also play in a monthly tourney with friends and a weekly card game when time permits.  I have no visions of quitting my crappy job to "go pro".

I thought it was that easy, but I kept getting some peculiar automated messages that were running me around in circles.  All I'm asking for is some PCole intervention for a little customer assistance.  If he didn't outsource the entire customer service network to India, that is...

Yet you can make a living playing tournament poker, not D&D, if it's considered a sport or not.

It does take a lot of mental capacity to play any kind of poker.  Sure, you don't necessarily need to be "in shape" to play, but neither does bowling and unlike bowling, tournament poker can take up to 10-14 hours a day.  As dumb as this sounds, I'm not sure if any of us could play poker for 7 or 8 straight days at 10 hours a day.  It is a draining "activity", both mentally and physically, IMO.
