Dude, they have their own minature golf course?  That's the one thing that may have tempted me to overlook the color-coded sidewalks.  I'm glad I didn't read that before making my choice for college.

Mini-golf?! That's nothing. According to the web site "The apex of second-semester activities is the spring Bible Conference, which gives students a break from classes and exposes them to the strong Biblical teaching of some of America's finest Bible teachers, preachers, and evangelists."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Bible study can't be valuable, but as the apex of the semester and as a break from classes?! Wow.

The picture of the cheerleaders is also interesting - http://www.pcci.edu/CampusLife/Athletics/EaglesSports.html. Knee length skirts and hair that appears to be at least shoulder length long. Anyone getting a Pleasantville vibe here?

Man, I was serious about the mini-golf.  How cool would that be?

With following BC the last few years, my travels have brought me to Maranatha Baptist....an opponent, with at times we have struggled with.  Anyway, they have a dress code for all students.  Guys in black dress pants, white shirt and tie, girls in knee length skirts, white shirts, hair pulled back.  Once, a player from BC swore, and the whole gym got quiet......LOL

Back during my student days at WLC, Maranatha Baptist's women's basketball and volleyball players were required to play wearing mini-skirts (at first I thought the basketball team would have trouble running a fast break--such was not the case however.) Guess a few years back the rule was changed so those teams could "go regular" uniform-wise (no offense intended) during those games.

I hope this doesn't open a can of worms.

Well its like that fact that you'll find some high schools whose volleyball teams don't wear spandex, but I had yet to see a college do so until pcci came along.  I guess its just one of those things.

Was it because they never ran a fast break? lol.  ;D ;) :P

I've been down to MBBC 10 years ago and the cheerleaders were wearing long skirts.  They still do that?

WLC's women played Maranatha at Milwaukee in Feb of '83, and the Crusaders ran the Warriors right out of the building (including several fast break baskets)---mini-skirts and all. Never been to MBBC's campus..

I dont mean to interrupt this conversation, which I must add I find very interesting, but I wanted to ask the Jeff's from Grinnell or any other GC fans in the know a question

I assume students are on campus now, so does anyone know how many new basketball players there are and if there are any studs. Curious if they were able to build on last year's stellar class

JeffP won't know until the students start reporting to the Rest for work and can give him the scoop on early season pick-up games.

Coaches-as usual-are pretty mum about the newbies, but I hear there are a couple more guards, one 6'6" guy, and maybe a few more surprises. The team played well without Nordy second semester, and only lose 2 guards besides that. Both Kennedy and Carlson will be missed, but the core is solid.

When I was in college we went up to Maranatha for a combined wrestling practice over winter break along with North Central.  I thought that the campus was nice, though my viewing of it was limited.  Ben Peterson was the coach up there at that time and let everybody try on his gold and silver medals from the 72 and 76 olympics.  This was about 12 years ago and the ladies basketball team was still wearing skirts at that time.

With all of this talk about skirts, I'm surprised there hasn't been a Monmouth joke.  You guys and gals must not be in mid-season form yet...   :)
