You make it sound so unthinkable, as if it were a crime.
I'm a staunch independant. So I don't care either way... being republican is not a crime... I just can't fathom someone as socially progressive as jeffp being one.

Thanks KS... you saved me some time. :)

I agree with some things in one, some in the other, and a lot of things that neither party believes in at all. I actually have friends who've dubbed my beliefs to be the "April Party" and want to become members... which I find hilarious. On my 25th birthday, my cousin was like, it's time to run for congress, RIGHT NOW. (And I was like, yeah right, with what millions of dollars?)

Hmm... I guess that means I am not technically an independant anymore. :D

Not that this should necessarily change your opinion Roop, but all the tribes I work with have had their funding drastically cut during this presidency... why? Because the department of the interior houses the EPA and... Homeland Security. For whatever that's worth and all the complexities both ways and blah blah blah. I just hope I don't lose my job because the organization I work with loses all their funding!  :-\ :D

I have another story that could go on the front page, actually, but I think I'll leave UW-Platteville up there just for the haters.

Probably some precious CCIW story....buy not until they give you a few dozen more karma points first, right?  Payola at it's finest.   ;D

A couple more years of reading Scottie, and he'll have me convinced that CCIW basketball courts have grassy knolls.  :D

From what you've told me about your job it doesn't sound like it falls into the category of unnecessary spending. So I wouldn't worry about looking for work just yet. Exactly what the Department of the Interior is and does can be a little vague (in reality) at times. It's related to everything and nothing at the same time.

You mean you haven't seen them?  I was up on the knoll at Carthage once for a three-point contest.  There was plenty of room to see both the first and second shooter.  You should check it out sometime, Sager.

Well if you can get a flight into CWA tonight, you can have my overtime tomorrow. Real easy as it's inventory. 1 hour for the trainers to explain the procedures, 2 hours to do the inventory, 2 hours explanation from the trainers as to why it was done wrong, 2 hours to do it again and another 1 hour for the trainers to realize it was right the first time and apologize for making us do it again.

That's how it went last year anyway and I expect tomorrow to be no different. Last year was the first time they roped me into doing it. One of the downsides of being important I guess. I think I liked it better when I wasn't important. There is one bright spot, the weather is going to be terrible this weekend so it's not like I was going to get the bow out of the case.

A truly "magic loogie" would result in a JeffP rant. Something that the board is in great need of. <hint hint> Jeff.

Someone called for basketball talk a few pages back and I am going to get it started.

Who does everyone consider the favorite this year? LU is supposed to have a great class coming in, but you can't expect freshman to replace the production of Braier and Macgillis. Carroll is really going to miss Scheper in my opinion. They will continue to run people to death, but will struggle if they run into a team with the size and depth of  Illinois Wesleyan last year, although let's be honest, there aren't many teams with that much size and depth. Grinnell returns a lot, but I am not sure they can beat Carroll with the current cast unless there is a change in philosophy against the Pios. Can Ripon return to form?
Here's my early projections.

1. Lawrence (14-2) – The freshman produce and the mystique that now surrounds going to play LU in Appleton will help them eke out a few they shouldn't.
2. Carroll (13-3) – Pios finally take one from LU, but get swept by Ripon
3. Ripon (11-5) – Gillespie gets Ripon back on track with talented senior class
4. Grinnell (10-6)   could be better depending on incoming class
5. St. Norbert (9-7) grezck begins turnaround quicker than expected
6. Beloit (7-9)  - bucs drop too many close games
7. Lake Forest (6-10) – best player graduates from team that wasn't very good
8. Knox  (5-11) – maclin is a stud, but the supporting cast has ? marks
9. Illinois College (3-13) – IC has some talent, just not as much as rest of league
10. Monmouth (2-14) – scots struggles continue
You're a master of Karate...and friendship...for everyone! – from the musical "The Nightman Cometh"

The Roop

Lawrence and Carroll should be 1 and 2 again this year but I'm not sure if a 14 win season is realistic. LU had to eke out a few last year and it's hard to keep doing that. Ripon, Grinnell and St. Norbert I view as wildcards this year as they could finish anywhere. All should be good but there are too many unknowns. Beloits a solid contender for the 4th spot if they can win the close ones that they couldn't last year. Lake Forest will probably wind up a notch or two lower than you've picked them but when you get that far down the list the particulars aren't that important. Does Monmouth really go 2-14, ouch.

Looks like a 6 team race for 4 spots, or perhaps a 4 team race for the remaining 2 spots as LU and CC figure to make it in without question. The next question would be does the conference beat itself up enough to only get one team in the NCAAs.
