Speaking of good pizza......Went to Pizzeria Unos at Platteville last night, before our pummeling in the first round of the playoffs.  Simply awesome, just as I remember it 20 years ago!   UWP's football field/facilities were gorgeous:)

See, this is why you have to head to Benny Tudinos in Hoboken for Pizza or the original original Famous Rays on 11th st and sixth in NYC, peolple think Pizzeria Uno is real pizza.

It's not a bad imitation of Chicago style pizza, although Chicago Style pizza in Chicago is better, but what do you expect?

Gentlemen:

I thought we agreed that the only topics to be discussed here are MWC basketball and Phoebe Cates  ???

The season hasn't started yet so pizza is open for discussion. It would be even after the season started as Domenicos in Beloit has been nominated as the Official Pizzeria of the MWC. Thereby making it a basketball related topic. Just like talking about Saints Rest or the Wooden Nickel.

Besides, it's not like I have any inside information on next years recruits.

If you went to the Banta Bowl on Saturday as planned, at least you didn't melt.

It was pretty nasty here.

Warmer at the Nickel I am sure.

Pizzaria Uno Pizza from THE Pizzaria Uno, or Pizzaria Due in Chicago, right by the ESPNZone is the the best... where they actually cook it for 45 mins, not the imitation stuff they have at the Pizzaria Uno's throughout the country... Heck, I've had it at the Pizzaria Uno in the Western Suburbs, and it still isn't as good, 'cause people in the 'burbs (and everywhere else, for that matter) wouldn't wait that long for their pizza (even though it's THAT much better!!!)

Somebodies gotta tell a Lou Malnodis story soon.

When my folks, who are lifelong upstate New Yorkers, come to Chicago they insist upon going to Lou Malnati's for pizza. And, just as the original Uno at the corner of Wabash and Ohio beats the franchised versions elsewhere (as PS said), the best Lou Malnati's pizza is to be found in the original location on Lincoln north of Devon.

Like most Chicagoans, I've got three or four favorite pizza joints from which to choose when I feel the need for the big red pie. Malnati's is definitely one of them -- and, believe me, when people come to visit this town, getting a Chicago-style pizza is right at the top of their list of things to do. Just as you'd take a visitor to Geno's for a cheesesteak if you lived in Philly, or to the Anchor Bar or to Schwabel's for wings or for beef on weck if you lived in Buffalo, Malnati's and Uno are two of the best choices for taking out-of-towners for pizza in Chicago.

(Gino's East on Superior used to be a great place for "tourist pizza", but I had a couple not-so-good ones there a few years back, and I haven't been back there since.)

I'm a Giordanos or Connie's kind of guy myself.  However, in my opinion, the best Chicago suburban pizza is Baraccos.  They're located in Evergreen Park and Oak Lawn!

I'm not much of a Giordano's fan. In fact, there was a Giordano's three blocks west of my apartment that closed down and was replaced by a non-franchised pizza parlor. The pizza in the new place (which is called Stefano's) is significantly better than Giordano's.

This family is partial to Riggio's in Niles for pizza.

Well, when we're in Niles. It's in the next suburb to the south.

The one on Oakton and Milwaukee? It's in Niles.

Never been there, but I've heard good things about their pizza.

It's been a couple years since I lived in Chicago, but I was always partial to Edwardo's. Now that may have primarily been a matter of location as my first apartment was right next to the Edwardo's on Dearborn just north of Division.

I could order a small pizza, walk next door, change out of my work clothes, walk back, and have dinner ready.

I tried Giordono's and Uno's, but still preferred Edwardo's.

I've also had my share of NYC pizza and while it's good, I still prefer the Chicago style. St. Louis also has an interesting local pizza style. Any others I should be aware of? I've always thought it would be interesting to open a pizza shop that offered the choice of NYC style or Chicago style.
