The Roop

I've discovered that Darth Kitten doesn't bother me all night when I sleep on the couch. So for the first time in about a week I slept great. In fact I woke up today not even hating anybody LOL.  ;) Better go drive around for a while to get my road rage on.

It may not be so obvious to the common observer, but trust me when I tell you when you play Grinnell, it's very physical.

Don't mistake my lack of allegiance to Grinnell or Ripon to me being a common observer! lol. ;D  I've never played the game, but I tend to think I know a lot about it and have seen plenty of games of all types.  Grinnell is overly aggressive, but if the refs let them play like that, more power to them.  That just means Ripon and other teams need to adjust to the ref's and Grinnell.  It's not Grinnell's fault that the refs let them play like that.

It's not every player and it's not even every year but I've seen "cheap shot thugs" on that team over the years and neither Weiske or Gillespie has done anything to control the behavior. Refs aren't looking so take a closed fist swing at an opposing player because you didn't like the foul call. Yeah, that says class.

Ok, so did I miss something here???  When did this happen?

"cheap shot thugs" Roop, you just came down on RR34 for being bitter and then you turn around and become as bitter as spoiled milk.  You are loosing respect on this board for being a hypocrite.

I thought everyone else's comments and discussions were fair and just.  I obviously agree with RR34.  I hated playing Grinnell and loved playing Grinnell....it was funstration.

As for the Iowa drivers crack...try coming down here when we get snow - any snow. The natives act like it's the White Death. The stores are stripped of bread and milk, the schools in Ky close on the first flake, and everyone slows down to 20 MPH and still spin out. Now THAT'S a circus!  :D ;D

So system, are you in agreement with me?   ;)

The Roop

I'm not being a hypocrite just an antagonist. I haven't had a nemesis on here since Coach Hahn, a Carroll poster, either graduated or got thrown in jail..............  ;D

In other news. Beloit 74 Monmouth 67. Another career high for Dowden as he dropped in 34. With 57 points over the weekend I think that's worthy of player of the week.

Also, the refs didn't lose that game for Ripon.  I didn't see the game, the only info I have on the game is from this board.  So you all know exactly all that I know.  Free throws cost that game for the RedHawks more than anything....41% is terrible.    :(

However, everyone has seen a Grinnell game and everyone can attest they have been frustrated with the officiating afterwords whether you were cheering for or against Grinnell, so you can at least understand where RR34 is coming from.  If you honestly disagree with me then disreguard my statement and you are then a much better fan than I.   But, don't come down on him just cause he is a Ripon fan and you have a bug up your you-know-what.

Old School is correct you can't blame the Grinnell players for that.  Teams and players will play to the officails and if they don't they will lose the game.

I'm not 100% sure of the year but it would have been either 81 or 82.

anyone else watching or listening to the Grinnell Lawrence game?

two point LU lead with about 5 left

I fear LU's announcing crews tears may short out the equipment before the game ends.

81 or 82?! ?!  ::)

Hell, I hadn't even started at GC when that happened! And I have a young one who's starting to think about going to GC himself! Maybe we can let that one go, OK?  :D

BTW, I'm probably too late to catch the end of the broadcast...you have an update titan?

106-103... Grinnell sweeps
No... F'in...Way...

Wow. What an incredible road trip.

The Roop

Another WOW is Carroll struggling with Knox like they did. 70-64. I thought they'd come out smoking after dropping one to Lake Forest last night. I was kidding when I said 9-7 might host the tournament this year but the way it's going who knows. I'm still trying to convince myself that the lower level teams have improved and it's just parody at work but I'm not winning the argument. Instead I think the top teams have fallen farther down than anyone realized.

Nobody in the conference is going to have a record or ranking that will allow them to host an NCAA event. I think anybody that wants to see the MWC rep in the tournament should start making travel plans for Stevens Point, WI or Elmhurst, IL in the post season. Hopefully Penn/Atlantic will have NCAA  tournament games because Elmhurst is too far for me and Steven Point will sell out before I can get there.

The wife and I watched the Grinnell-Lawrence game today on the internets. Amazing weekend for Grinnell. I'll defer to jeffp on the descriptions of the game.

fightintitan2006

I think you are right on point Roop as far as the top of the league coming down this season.

Speaking of going to Elmhurst for the NCAA tourney, after reading the front page story on them this week, it sounds like their offense goes through their two bigs. I havent seen them play or if the bigs are athletic or not, but that sounds like a great matchup for Grinnell if they were to win the league.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt that the intended purpose of the system? GC cant recruit enough big players, so they take your big players (if they cant run) out of the game with the tempo.
