GC 90, KC 70.  I only saw the 2nd half of this game, but I have one word for you: GRUNGY.  Although GC had some nice disciplined plays toward the end, it was just grungy.

And yet, they won. On to IC.....
Threes are better than twos....

In looking at the MWC notes, I found the preseason 'rankings' as voted by the coaches. Their top four teams (LU,CC,RC, and GC) are currently tied for first, and their choice for fifth is STN. In fact, only LFC and KC are more than one position away from where the coaches put them, and each of these is two positions off.

Nice prognostication by the coaches! I guess there are no real surprises this year; a couple teams are a little better (GC & LFC) than expected and a couple (LU & KC) are a little worse than expected, but no true surprise.

And that surprises me...  ::)

Yes, Scottie - a VERY nice win for the Scots...I don't suppose there's anyone out there that went to the game and can give some feedback???

scottie & fs13 - I gotta admit...even though I picked the Scots on the pick 'em page, I wasn't too confident that they would get that road win at Lake Forest. :-[  But it is definitely a great win for MC and, more importantly, it keeps them within shouting distance of a playoff spot.  Not the best situation to be in obviously, but still a better spot to be at than KC and IC both sitting at 2-7 and essentially out of the race.

Long way to go, but as of today...

GC wins over LU and RC, loses to CC and STN
RC wins over LU, CC, and STN, loses to GC
CC wins over GC and STN, loses to RC
LU wins over STN, loses to GC and RC
STN wins over GC, loses to RC, CC, and LU

Don't hold your breath.  "Forester Nation" has never been very active on this site. Neither has "that school down the road."

I don't think LFC got the memo...

Schmitting's 26 pts. and 20 rebounds was one of the more impressive showings by an individual this year.  I know Grotberg hit 51 didn't he?  Didn't a Monmouth player have a trible double gainst Grinnell?  What individual performances have been the most impressive so far this year?  Do the games against Grinnell count (not trying to knock you guys)?  I only say that cause it seems a lot players score their career highs against Grinnell when getting layups consistantly.

What opposing players, that you guys have seen, have been the most impressive?

From the games I saw, I have been really impressed with Chamberlin (GC) and Drury (Probably the most complete player) and I really liked CC point guard...very good ball handler (don't laugh).

I'm a WIAC guy, so take this for what it's worth...

Based on what I've seen and stats (haven't really seen any "south" teams much)..

1st team

Drury-CC
Hurley-LU
Maclin-KC (haven't seen)
Schmitting-RC
Horton-BC (haven't seen-4th in scoring; 12th rebounding; 4th FG%; 2 Blks)

Just missing 1st team

Grotberg-GC
Gennings-IC
Arseneault-IC

POTY is between Drury and Hurley...depending on which team (if either) wins the conference.

Interesting that you used the conference game stats. I was looking at the overall stats. Using overall, Little A is 4th in scoring (just 0.4 behind Drury), 1st in assists (and first in assist-to-turnover ratio).

I also thought it was interesting that you picked Horton over Hendry. Horton is 15.1 pt/g and 5.7 rb/g; Hendry is 11.8 pt/g and 7.7 rb/g. Pretty similar numbers. Since I don't get to see them in person, I'd be interested in the BC fans opinions of the two.

Greek Tragedy

I think going by conference-only stats is a better barometer for All-Conference awards...makes sense to me.  For all I know, when you go by overall stats, those might include games against Sisters of the Blind, Computer State and Northern Southwest Middle Wisconsin Tech.  All quality schools, none-the-less.

Grotberg just missing???

Leads conference in scoring
Leads NATION in scoring (ongoing back and forth battle here)

Since he plays for Grinnell lets penalize him for only playing 22 minutes a game?!@#$!!@>?!??

Not to knock your opinions here, but this kid is amazing. yes he has off nights (10 pts last night) but day in and day out he delivers for his team.

Davey almost?
Leads league in assists
Leads NATION in assists

Since he plays for Grinnell lets penalize him for only playing 22 minutes a game?!@#$!!@>?!??

Nothing against Drury and Hurley but I think my bias is well founded.

As for the pre conference schedule (for Grinnell anyway)

Carthage
Oshkosh
Whitewater
Simpson
MacMurray

These games helped establish G'berg and Davey at the top in national stats. I think all four guards (Drury, Hurley, G'berg and Davey) are top notch and I won't argue too much here, but...

Wow, an "almost" JeffP rant. Actually I think he did make a rant but instead of posting it he's mailing it and we all know how long that can take. LMAO.

Systemfan............... Looks to me like Old School is putting his team together by position. So in that case you have to take Horton over Hendry because you need a center. Which also makes it hard to compare the two because they play different positions. In general I'd say you can count on Hendrys numbers every game whereas Hortons scoring has been a little inconsistent. Sophomore jinx vs. Senior experience, etc. Both would start for any team in the conference in my opinion. Significant minutes at the very least.

At the recent Walla Walla Poetry Party, the simplicity and rhythm of the above poem brought tears to many attendees ;D

I would see Grotberg as a first team selection but the only first team Arsenault belongs on is the "All Whiner's Team".  He would lead the MWC in whining to the oafs and likely is in the Top 5 in the NCAA.

I felt he should have been T'd up in the LU/GC game at GC twice but I think the oafs take pity on him since he wears that craxy lookin headband.

Jeffp, you should get a Saint's Rest headband for him;  of course if there is a Grinnell Wine and Spirits that would be a better sponsor for him.
