Welcome to the board Speaking MWC.

I think RR34's "they don't play defense" was intended to be hyperbole, but it's one of those trigger phrases for us (see my identifier). He's played against Grinnell, and if I understand his subsequent posts, his point was that based on points allowed statistics (alone) you could make the argument that Grinnell doesn't play defense. Think of the "lie, damn lies, and statistics" concept. He understands the Grinnell defense as well as anyone. (He understands as well, not they play defense as well...).

Thanks for the additional insight Scots4. I enjoy hearing from the people who have played in the league. Although, if you've played against Grotberg 3 times, one would have to assume you are a current player which provides a VERY unique perspective.

Now some questions for the board,
Will the WIAC get three teams in into the NCAA tourney or is two usually the max?

Forgot this one.  Last year, the WIAC got three in, Whitewater the AQ and Stout and La Crosse with Pool Cs.  Back before they went to a Pool system, the WIAC was getting four in.

I think Stevens Point and Oshkosh, barring a total collapse, would get Pool C bids if neither wins the conference tourney.  It looks like the MWC is back to one this year...hopefully, for their sake, they can win more than one game.

My opinion as a player who has played against Grotberg 3 times...

Not sure if that's the wisest move to disclose that information.  Usually current players don't post and coaches probably don't mind if they read up on it, and I know of players and coaches who read this stuff all the time (if, indeed, you are a current player).  But heck, what do I know! lol.  :D ;D ;)

And I thought I was the only idiot up at this time on a Saturday morning! lol.  I guess that's what I get for "volunteering" to let the dog out.  >:(

Roop, I think the ultimate act of revenge would be to "borrow" the Segway and put together a half-time routine where you make trick shots on it while performing at half-time of Beloit games.

Borrowing the Segway, regardless of purpose, would not result in as much cost to the company as changing my insurance plan would. I've articulated a very polite draft to the human resources department which I will drop in their box on Monday morning. Their decision ultimately effects mine.

In basketball news.....................

Recruit X was absolutely sick tonight. 6 of 7 from the floor (5 of 6 from 3) and the only shot he missed was a 3 that was halfway down and somehow came out. Only 1 of 2 from the free throw line however so that 50% performance needs to improve. LOL. Dolph might not like to hear this but if Beloit lands this kid Cecil's job is safe for a long time.

X plays in a conference that, to my knowledge, Beloit has never been able to tap into before. Maybe once on the women's side in the late 80s. So if they get one to come, others are likely to follow. Beloit only graduates 2 starters this year and 1 occasional starter next year. Have your fun now MWC and kiss your mom at the bus stop because Beloit is going to take you to school.

Tharp was there last night and Recruit X is out at Gander Mountain buying his Fox River fishing rig for 2007/2008.

Old School....Grotberg is the only player on Grinnell who takes enough shots (and can make enough) to single handedly beat you. Thats the only thing I meant by that.

Anyone going to be able to give live updates on any of the games today?!? Im just a poor college student that doesnt have the 6 bucks to spare.

Tharp must have been using his powers of invisibility again as I don't recall seeing him. Rock River Salmon offer more sport than anything the Fox has to offer  ;)

FYI- Lake Forest vs. Knox will be played in Monmouth due to Knox's facilities losing power. Go figure.

Early score from the Knox-Lake Forest game is 16-4 Knox, with about seven minutes gone in the first half. That's the last update I can provide, though ... I'm heading home.

Grinell takes the lead for good with 6 minutes left. Little A goes for 28, TTMG 26. Long and Ticus add 17 each.

IC is lead by Womble with 28 pt (14 of 15). Three players go 30 minutes for IC.

Carroll opening a can on Lawrence 62-37 with 7 left

Carroll's PA announcer at their gym is awful. Someone needs to tell him to tone it down a bit. He's not the lead singer of White Snake.

Ya, we lose big at Carroll.

Hey i've been working on this for a bit, and I have a theory:

I don't think we're the same team without Braier.

Any thoughts?

The Roop

Ripon 81 Beloit 77 in double overtime. Bucs you gotta make your free throws and you win in regulation. I won't steal Dolphs thunder though, I'll let him explain the final 20 seconds.

Refs really let them play, especially in the ot's, which was a pleasant surprise from that crew.

The scoreboard has Lawrence over Carroll 72-45 - I take it that is backwards?

I've said enough about the Knox gym to let this one go....   ???

But I'm glad Monmouth could bail them out.
