slightly off topic (ok, way off topic) - I noticed last night that MC had cheerleaders. I don't go to the road games, so I'd never seen this before. How many of the MWC teams actually have cheerleaders for their bball teams? I don't think I saw any at the LU game. I can tell you definitively that GC doesn't (I don't think the Scarlet Sea counts).

Just curious..... ???

MC also has a dance team that performed at halftime of the women's game (and maybe the men's game, too).

Well I said I would have a report on last night's MC/GC game, so here it is.  I second basically all of what everyone else (like schwanman and fs13) has said about it; essentially all that has been posted are the same things I had noticed last night and was planning on posting today.  Good analysis guys! ;)

Here's hoping the Scots turn it around in time for this weekend's home double header.

Friday's game vs. Lawrence should be extra exciting, as a "Scottie Sighting" (TM) is likely.   ;D

You may need to verify that trademark. I'm guessing the Trekkies may have beaten you to it.

You know, if Maverick goes to the game we can ask the musical question, "Who is the tall dark stranger there?"

Does ANYONE get that reference?!? I've been accused by acquaintances of having a musical going on in my head because I hear certain words and respond with a musical phrase. James Garner fans might get that one. (And all the people on the board younger than 30 are saying, James who?!)  :-\

I was just thinking... if my team could somehow get their act together, this could be the year for the epic bet! Grinnell and Wheaton could meet in the playoffs!!! Perhaps the cookie-scone exchange was premature.... hmm...

JeffP, prepare to drink instant.  ;D

I, for one under thirty, know who James Garner is.

That would include me though. But I'm completely oblivious to most pop culture references, old or new. I haven't even heard of 80% of the shows on TV much less watched any of them, and the ones I've heard of are probably in reruns or mentioned by politicians or major news outlets in an unrelated story or something. It's actually really ridiculous. I do have a small TV-DVD combo that someone gave me for free, but it's not connected to any sort of broadcasting. Which is okay, because I'm sure I'd find most of the stuff you kids watch these days offensive. (And yes, I really am 25 and not secretly a 70 yr old grandma) :D

I did just purchase over 100 dollars worth of books from Barnes and Noble though (I swear, that is one seriously dangerous place for my bank account)... and subsequently just started a really interesting book. Reading, it's FUNdamental. :P

I was going to say "wasn't he that old guy who played Mel Gibsons's father in that old west movie with Jodie Foster."

But, I thought that might give systemfan a heart attack or something, so I dialed it down a few notches.

Back to bball....

A question for any Carroll posters out there, or anyone who's seen the CC team in action this year: what does GC need to worry about? I have only the box score from GC's 2 pt defeat at CC to go by. Looks like it was nip and tuck most of the game. My memory of the CC team last year was big, fast, and physical.

Thoughts, comments?

From what I saw when CC played Ripon, they are an outstanding team.  They are probably the most talented team in the conference overall.  Drury is awesome and is the type of player that can play in any system.  I really like CC's point guard as well.  He can really handle it and has control of the teams offense.  I think CC matches up the best against Grinnell overall and this should be a true test in whether they can win it all this year or not.  This will be the team to beat!

But as we are all aware of...this doesn't mean as much when you (and the oafs)get caught up in speed ball.

RiponRed34 -

I dunno - ask MC how 'fast' the GC team played the last 6 minutes of last night's game!  ;D
