Based on those remaining schedules I think New Darby should begin making preparations to host a tournament in a few weeks. The only question is will anybody over take Lake Forest for the #4 spot because the top 3 are set. Carroll and Ripon might switch places but they would still play each other in the opening round so nothing really changes.

Grinnell is likely to win out which means the best Lake Forest can do is 10-6. So if Lawrence runs the table they are both 10-6. Who wins that tie breaker since they split the season series ?? If they used point differential in those games LU would get the nod, however, that's never been official tie breaking criteria to my knowledge. Do they still poll the coaches to resolve something like that the way they used to ?? If so I may have to make a "Selected not elected" poster for whomever the #4 team is. LOL.

I haven't looked at everybodies remaining schedule yet but isn't there still a possibility of a 5-way tie for 4th place. The MWC needs to study their tie breaking procedures because I think they will need them this year.

Actually, SF86, It was a system game...til 9 minutes to go. Grinnell up by around 27 and they pulled up and ran trad ball to near the end of the game.

The St N coach got pissy after the game because Coach A put in the 5 players with the least amount of playing time with 3 or 4 minutes to go and let them play a little shaky system ball and shoot as well.

two thoughts on this:
1. these kids don't play much, so why NOT let 'em shoot?

2. Grinnell needed to win by 26 to have the tie breaker against St N in the event they somehow are tied at the end of regular season and want the right to host. They won by 27.

Too bad the St Norbert coach-who appears to otherwise be a class act- spoiled his Darby debut by publicly (nit)picking this point. Didn't score any points with our fans, that's for sure.

Still have the grandkids, so more tomorrow.

BTW Andrew ALSO thinks that Bobby is the best! And Ahmed and Mondo and Davey and Mike and John and..... ;D :D ;D

So if Lawrence runs the table they are both 10-6.

The way Lawrence is playing, I don't see them running the table, though the really two tough ones are at home, CC and RC.  St. Norbs played them tough at the Alex, so that could go either way.  I don't see them tanking in Beloit.

HEY MR. MWCSID2006, CAN YOU POST THE TIE-BREAKERS PLEASE?

Grzek was probably frustated.  The end-of-the-bench players have every right to go in and play "sloppy" system ball.  If St. Norbs can't stop them, that's their fault.

If Coach A was truly worried about the tie-breaker of points scored or whatever, he wouldn't have put in those players and would've stuck with his starters, IMO.

time to send the grandkids home, jeffp...we need a description...playoff time.

if the neers' cagers host, we might have to have a poster reunion at saint's rest...waffles and orange juice for all. i'll  bring the maple syrup. i've started making my own.

Grinnell would be quite a bit farther than Appleton for the MWC Tournament. Although if my "usual source"  ;)  ;) were to arrange a ticket drop somewhere it's likely that I could make the trek down from New Roop City. Waffles are again vetoed but Roopacinnos will be flowing in the streets.

thanks for the knowledge Roop...someone already asked the next question I was getting at, which was the possiblity of GC getting sent west and playing redlands or vice versa.

Playing the CCIW champ doesnt look to be as daunting as it has in past years, especially if its not Augustana.

IC beat Millikin and NP who both have played tough in the CCIW and pulled off some upsets.  IC had Jennings at the time, but still looked like a middle of the pack team even if he kept playing.

You're way off, fightintitan. First of all, NPU's loss to IC was early in the year. This year's Vikings consists mostly of freshmen and transfers; it took them a while to get any sort of consistency whatsoever, and I'm pretty certain that if NPU and IC met now the Vikings would win handily. As for Millikin, it, too, is a very young team that's playing better ball now than it was playing early in the year. In their game on Saturday, f'rinstance, the three top scorers for MU were all freshmen.

The CCIW went 66-22 (.750) in non-conference play this season. How can you possibly construe the tourney reps of a league that dominant in non-conference play as not being daunting?

JeffP-

This may be getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but...if the tournament is held at Darby, will we go to a ticket system? Have you heard anything?   ???

Old school-
He was definitely interested in the tiebreaker and would have put a new line in if it had gotten below 25. When the last 5 were put in Grinnell had a 33 point lead. They shoulda ( and it ended up that they did) been able to hold the 25 pt margin needed for 4 minutes, but St N scored 6 quick points. The last 5 needed to respond at least a bit to maintain that 25 pt margin.

Stick it, grinnellfan 68. The Grandkids are worth way more than your need to pester me.

Colts win by 14 ... (OK, 12)

Had somewhere to go after the Monmouth-Carroll game Saturday, so didn't post then but, man, what an ugly game for the Scots. There was no point in the game when it felt like Monmouth was going to turn things around.

Not breaking any new ground here, but Drury is definitely a PTPer. Carroll didn't come our way last year, so I hadn't seen him since he scored nine points here two years ago. Very smooth, and deadly from beyond the arc and at the free throw line.

And now, for the almost forgotten (and deeply missed) "Scottie's Monday Morning Ramblings:"

1. Nice prediction, Schwannie - unfortunately for da Bears.  Can you say, "free agent, Mitch Tanney?"

2. The Scottiepalooza (TM) Tour enjoyed it's stop at Glennie Gym on Friday night to watch (up close and personal) the Scots defeat Lawrence.  Wish I could've stayed an extra day for Drury show, but alas...
2a. I will echo some of the sentiments from FS13...there seemed to be a lot of desperation from the Lawrence faithful.  Maybe I've been away from athletes' parents long enough now (thank goodness!) to not be so numbed by the sound of whining, but the Lawrence parent section was on a roll Friday night, in addition to a few of their players.  The Vikings could have easily stolen that game had they worried more about rebounds and less about the officiating.  Kudos to the Scots!
2b. Thankfully, LU didn't take out any of their frustrations on our facility.  (Thanks for the CSI:Huff Center tour, FS13.  All I can say is that one of the Ripon players must be REALLY strong.)
2c.  "Thaaat's aaaaa threeeeeeeeeee!"

3. OS: Is Monmouth out of contention, mathematically?

4. A quick shout-out to the Thomas M. Cooley readers!   ;)

5. One last thing, Scots...  Please Kneat Box on Wednesday!

Let me repeat my question, again?  Is Monmouth "out of contention," mathematically?
