Greek Tragedy

If there was a MWC fantasy league, I might actually be inclined to take Arseneault over Grotberg.

I guess that's why they play the games...  I'm not betting the farm on the Scots, but you never know.

If Monmouth wins ALL of their remaining games AND makes the MWC playoffs, I'll buy you two tickets (so you can take your favorite Scot fan) for the conference tournament (do they include all three games?)...of course, you have to have a counter-offer...

First, LFC won't consider this bulletin board material because they are responsible for .0001% of the postings on this board since it's inception.  (Maybe less.)  They're still in negotiations with their internet provider, I guess.

Second, I'm not trying to start a civil war between the clans here, but... I have to question your logic on a couple of points:
a.) You beat LFC by 2.  If they are the worst team you've played, then what does that say about a "certain team I hold dear to my heart?"
b.) The rest of the league might argue that the two worst teams are Knox and IC.  Those two teams beat "certain team I hold dear to my heart" by a combined 20 points.

Now, what are you and the rest of "certain team I hold dear to my heart" going to do about it??

Some very good points made there by scottie.  Hopefully something gets done about it here towards the end of the season, even if it doesn't result in a conference tournament berth.

My counter-offer is that if Monmouth does make the MWC playoffs, and if the playoffs are hosted by Grinnell, you can put all of your personal expenses at Saints Rest on my tab.  (JeffP's ears - and ponytail - just perked up!)   ;D

What if they aren't hosted by Grinnell? ;)  Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to travel that far for several reasons, mainly because I'm hoping Stevens Point is in the WIAC tourney final on that same Saturday.  If a "northern" school hosted, like Carroll or Ripon (just for example), I would be able to attend Friday's semi-finals.  Obviously, if they make the MWC tourney, I'd just be reimbursing you the cost of two tickets.  But, if they make it, would you even be going?

We'll work on it...but we only have 40 minutes until LF kicks off against IC! lol

Is it too early to talk POY?

My vote goes to the Senior Brian Schmitting, but of course my opinion could change if he doesn't show up, on the road, against CC and LU.  I wouldn't have a problem if Drury got it and then Davey coming in at third.

Schmitting is a good player, as is Drury.  But this Davey (as in Arsenault) is a whining machine that I don't see as any better than honorable mention.   Just my opinion.  How could he be ahead of Grotberg?  I saw Isiah Thomas last weekend and he is considering him for the Knicks next year.

Huh?!?!  ???
Davey is only honorable mention because he whines?! Even if I leave the whining charge unrefuted; what kind of stupid logic is that?! We're not voting on Mr. Congeniality here. Hell, even the debatable 'Grinnell stats are inflated' argument is better than 'he whines...he's only honorable mention'.

Please expand on why you think that and give us who's ahead of him. I'm holding fire for the time being, but I'm preparing to respond...

I did not say that he was honorable mention because he was a whining machine--I said I thought he was honorable mention and also a whining machine.  Both are my opinion.  Read more carefully before you threaten.

Boy, it sure is fun waiting for information about tonight's game on this site from an IC or LFC poster...   >:(

Hey Scottie - The LFC website says the game didn't start until 9:30.  Their live stats show LFC up 57-49 with about 2:00 remaining.

LFC 65 - IC 61.

Looks like IC tried a valliant comback in the last minute and change.  Oh well, the countdown for the Forester 3 game losing streak now begins...   ;D

By the way, I wonder if the IC team is going to attempt to drive back to Jacksonville tonight?  With the lateness, cold and snow, that should be some adventure!

I'm not sure why you would feel threatened...

The only two comments you made about Davey were that he was a whiner and that he was no better than honorable mention. Since you gave no other justification, I presumed that the two ideas in the same sentence were related. I don't think that's a huge leap. Regardless, I asked for a justification. I'd be interested in how your opinion was formed; I could give you reasons why I think you're wrong, but I thought it was more appropriate to give you a chance first.

Sorry if you find that threatening.

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this question, but I'll ask anyways.  Does anyone know if you can get the MWC TV deal on a single game basis rather than an entire package?  Someone help me out...

I talked to "my people" and this is the official tie-breaker procedure.

a. If teams have the same win-loss record, the following criteria shall be applied in order.

In case of a tie among three or more teams after a criterion advances a team, go back to the beginning of the criteria.

1.  Head to head competition. (Head to head winning percentage amongst all tied teams should be used to break the tie.) These criteria should be used to determine the order of all teams involved in the tie before proceeding to the next criteria, i.e., four (4) teams tied; Team A 3-1, Team B 3-2, Team C 2-3, Team D 1-3. Team A would advance and then we should return to the beginning of the criteria and start again with the remaining teams.

2. The record against the highest ranked common opponent.  This will continue through the conference rankings until the tie is broken.  Common opponent is defined as a team that the tied teams have played twice. (exception is if Team A has beaten a common opponent twice while Team B lost to them once or Team A has lost two games and Team B won one game) 2-0 vs. 0-1 or 0-2 vs. 1-0

3. Coin flip by Conference Commissioner

Yeah, it's like $5.95 a game, go to the MWC webpage, they have all the details there.
