Greek Tragedy

Just to let all the System Nation know...Grinnell got ONE vote in the most recent Top 25 Poll!  Congrats...maybe DC will have a note on that highlight in his Top 25 Blog!  :D ;D

One more question--if LU and Lake Forest tie, and LU won early game by 10 and Lake Forest latter game by 3, does that mean LU goes?

Could it be that simple, or do the respective chancellors/Presidents of LU and Lake Forest need to have a  3 fall jello wrestling match to break the tie?

I appreciate the response.

Oh yeah, Roop, I owe you a fin.  There is no way we shouldn't have won by 15.

This isn't the old NAIA (or they may still do it?) where Dunkel Ratings come into play (beating someone by more).

As I understand it, if Grinnell wins the top seed and ONLY LU and LC tie, LC goes through since they split with Grinnell and LU got swept by them.

Grinnell 11-3:  @ KC, vs. IC
Carroll 10-4:  vs. RC, @ LU
Ripon 10-4:  @ CC, vs. BC
Lake Forest 8-6:  @ MC, vs. KC
Lawrence 8-6:  @ SNC, vs. CC
St. Norbert 8-7:  vs. LU

LU and LFC split.  Grinnell swept LU, LFC split with Grinnell (I believe LFC would have the tie-breaker then)  If Carroll gets the #1 seed, the tie-breaker would between LFC and LU would ONLY COUNT if CC beats LU on the last day, since LFC is 1-0 against CC is 1-0 so far against LU, if CC and LU split, CC is not used since LFC would be 1-0 and LU would be 1-1 vs. CC.  Got that?  ??? :D

LU and LFC both split with Ripon, if they get the #1 seed...of course, I don't know the tie-breakers for the #1 seed at this time for GC, CC and RC!  We'll know a lot more on Wednesday night!

If LFC, LU and SNC all tie at 9-7, they'd take the commulative records against those three teams...I'm too lazy to look right now!

I think my proposed jello wrestling between the Presidents of the respective universities would be more humane and dignified then considering how you performed against Grinnell vs. how you did in a head to head matchup. We all know that isn't basketball.  ;)

And if they had the LU managers in the Jello undercard, there would be a need to move that tiebreaker match to the Bradley Center as there would be a lot of interest in that match and its results.   ::)

Well, all LU can do is win their next two games, they really shot themselves in the foot on the last southern road trip.   My prediction Maclin comes up huge in his last game and beats LFC and LU wins out

Jeffdc:

I must say--for you to comment on behavior after I watched the Arsenault crying parade twice live and once on Penn Atlantic this year, I think that is throwing stones in a glass house.  The combined whining of Coach A. and Davey is nearly worthy of a T every game.  Again, just my opinion.  But I'm sure all the non GC folks have my back on that one.

Man, you are just going to keep beating that drum, aren't you T2K?

Jeffdc wasn't complaining at all, he was answering my question on what happened to get Conger run at the LFCvGC game, so lighten up Francis.

You might want to consider some counseling for your obsessive whining about Davey's whining. I can't think of too many posts from you that don't seem to include that theme.

We get it. You don't like Davey (or his dad). You think he whines too much. Point made. I, for one, would enjoy hearing your opinions on other basketball subjects.

If that's how the tie breakers work then LU and Ripon need to tie. Lake Forest just doesn't have the numbers to make the LU match up very interesting.  ;)

I don't know how comfortable I'd be if I needed a win from Knox to make the tournament. They've won one game in their last ten. Yikes. You have to feel for a good player like Maclin going out like that.

... such as the UW-Oshkosh coach's passion for deer hunting, or how the event staff at UWSP's Quandt Fieldhouse is mean to visiting fans?

I think you're seriously overestimating T2k's ability to expand his subject matter, systemfan. His forte is in obsessively gnawing a subject to a slow, lingering death. But, hey, every poster has his or her own shtick. Except me ::preseason::, of course. :D

So in point of fact, I was wrong. He does have multiple subjects, but they all have a similar melody.

I stand corrected.  ;)

I was cruising he milestones list on the site and I noticed they keep a list of 1500 point scorers there.  I looked up how much it would take for Grotberg to make 1500 by the end of his sophomore year (which incidentally would keep him on track to break the career scoring mark for d3).

He's sitting at 1340 right now, with two regular season games remaining, likely two playoff games and possibly an NCAA game.  If he got 32 per (entirely doable) and actually got five games in, he could hit 1500.

Just an FYI.

That would be a nice milestone for JohnG. But I think the team is more focused on getting to the tournament right now  ;D

It would be amusing if GC has a rematch with LFC. Hopefully Conger will have finished his anger management classes by then....  ::)

Is the weather out in MWC-land going to be an issue tomorrow? Those of us farther east (and south) are getting a nice Zamboni treatment right now.

The RC-CC game tomorrow is important, but only to the team that loses. Probably more important to CC since they have to go to Appleton Saturday.

If LFC wins tomorrow, then they are in the driver's seat for that #4 bid. Larry and Norb's might be the biggest game in that the loser is likely done for the season. If Norbs were to pull it out, they need the Scots to pull the upset over  dominate LFC to have a chance.

Sounds like fun, but I'm glad my team's already there.

[Better, Scottie?  :D]

I hate to burst your bubble, but he'll be going pro after his junior year.

Monmouth over LFC in Monmouth won't be an upset.
