I think both grotberg and dave A. will make first team along with Schmitting and Drury.  it is the 5th player I am not sure about.  I think Macklin might be the 5th best player, but not sure they will put someone on first team whose team was that bad(same thing happened to him last year).

I like Kroeger and Hurley from LU, but think they will likely be second team.  I think Chamberlin deserves second team consideration as well.  As good as Lake Forest finished, I cannot identify someone who would be first team off of their roster.  Freshman guards at Norbs are good, but not first team this year.  I do not think anyone other than Scmitting from Ripon is first team.  McMullen is probably second team,

Lots of good coaching this year in MWC.  I think Coach A. gets the award as his team was the best and showed more versatility than they have in the past.  I also think he runs a good program(not commenting on style of play).  The kids seem to be very solid kids.

You've either never seen a Beloit-Carroll game or you're joking...............

No actually he was very chatty and complimentary in both games Monmouth played against Beloit. We had each other laughing times but still being ultra-competitive at the same time. It was a pleasant experience to play against him.

Must be some history vs. Carroll or something because fuses have been short on both sides in the few times I've seen them play. Nick even managed a T in the last match up.

I've noticed that now that they are winning the GC guys are all knowing.   Funny how that happens  ::)

Time to go over and abuse some Pointers on the WIAC board.

Here's some fuel for you. Remind them all that they wouldn't be #1 if not for the Colorado snow storm. Now before everybody says "Hey The Roop, what the heck are you talking about" take a look at their schedule. That storm cancelled a game at D2 Regis; a probable loss. With 2 losses on their schedule, D2 losses or not, I don't think Point would be #1 at the moment.

Why was the Regis game a probable loss?  Regis is currently 8-16, and they've lost 14 of their last 17...  They turn the ball over more than 16 times per game, almost twice the rate of Point.  They shoot free throws at 60.7%, over 20% worse than the Pointers.  They shoot 3's at a rate of 26.7%, again about 20% less than the Pointers.

You could make the argument that they're (Regis) playing against D-2 opponents... but people have made the argument that the WIAC should be a D-2 conference anyway, so that essentially nullify's that point.

Point Special,
There is a lot of assumption on this board, like people assuming that Point would lose to a D2 or like people assuming that Davey Jr. is the greatest thing since sliced bread.  So we might as well give Stevens Point the loss and drop them to #3 in the country, or maybe we should just end their season right now and get ready for next year? What do you say?
If it were up to me there would be a 4 point line....

John Gleich

Well, seeing as a loss to a D-2 team wouldn't knock Point out of contention for anything of true merit...

This Point team isn't the same Point team from '03-'04 and '04-'05.  In many respects they're simply different... in some respects they're better, in others they're worse.  Both are very fundamentally sound, but this Point team lacks size inside (part of the reason why Point lost to Oshkosh at home and struggled against Stout).

...Anyway... now back to your regularly scheduled MWC programming.

One thought...  there's an outside chance that both Redlands and Grinnell could both make the NCAA's...  Could we possibly get the "System" matchup that System fans have wanted to see for years?

The Roop, next time, throw the grenade from inside their site, not ours. Please?  ;)

I have to say I'm not sure how I'd feel about a GC-Redlands game, PS. I'm sure it would be a hoot, but it runs the risk of being one of those games that can't possibly hold up to the hype.

Monmouth nation (as I know it) can just not believe that LFC will probably make the tournament. We all felt they were the worst team we had played all season.

Why was the Regis game a probable loss?

1. You have to respect the fact that they are D2
2. They were the home team

Had Point hosted the game they probably would have been the favorite however. D2s will occasionally go on the road like that if they have something to prove. Rebuilding, provisional member, or get a money game with a D1 in the area etc. Point certainly gave NMU a good game this year so a win wouldn't have surprised me either.

In the mean time please remember that I was only giving T2K some weaponry to go slay a few dragons on the WIAC board. LOL.
