"Another tough draw for the MWC in the tourney.  Does anyone know anything about Augustana?  How will Carroll match up?"

I do not like Carroll's chances in this game. Augustana has two really good guards in Delp and Wessels that can fill it up and distribute the ball to their big men. The Swetella's are two big, talented players that I dont think Carroll will have an answer for. I will be attending this game in Rock Island and will be cheering hard for the MWC. However, my prediction sits somewhere along the lines of Augustana by 15-20.

Though I have made my feelings known as to jeffp's tone, I support him out of principle. A man's opinion is sacred and he has the right to express it.

WIth that in mind, I begin a hunger strike. I will eat again when jeffp posts.

Who is with me?

Anyway. I'm wearing my Beloit sweatshirt at the time and the hottie selling the t-shirts asks if I have a son at Beloit College. OUCH...(insert scratched record sound)... I don't even have kids let alone one that's college age. I guess The Roop isn't Pool A material any more.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The sooner you admit that you were biologically capable of producing someone who is old enough to be in college, and stop referring to kids that could be your kids as hotties (gross), the better. Sorry, that's just the way it is. :P :-*

In response to GrinnellFan68:

Jeffp said the players "seemed to be unprepared".  That's different from saying they were.  As someone who coaches and who played, there are plenty of instances where I either was prepared/did prepare my players but the performance did not reflect it.  I don't see any of those comments as shots at Coach A.  Coach Conger is deservedly a COY candidate.  He took a young team to within one win of the conference title against good competition.  To discount his candidacy is to insult him and his team, and they deserve better than that.

As to Grotberg being sick:  That is something that fans wouldn't necessarily know, and should be pointed out, but fan opinions are based on what they see in the game.  They aren't meant to be insulting to players.  At no point did anybody say that players or coaches were bad, just that they had a bad game.  That is a fair comment (especially looking at the box score), and should be taken in the context of a long-time fan being dissappointed in the performance of the team, as I'm sure the team was as well.

Jeffp:  I hope to hear from you again.  I always enjoy hearing about my beloved Grinnell, and your voice is one of the best.

Here's to a great season for a young Grinnell squad, let's look to next year and the hope that this argument won't exist as we all congratulate each other on how great the team did.

I'm not sure you exactly get it, April.  From the time a guy reaches puberty, his one aim is to date an 18 year old.  For most guys, that aim just never changes.  Peter O'Toole got robbed of an Oscar last night for playing a role that illustrates that perfectly.

Ugh, can we add this stuff to the whole "don't ask, don't tell" policy?  :o :-X

Another exciting installment of Scottie's Monday "Afternoon" Ramblings:

A big congrats to Carroll.  This team was at the basement of the MWC not too long ago and has been consistently among the league leaders the past four years.

POY = Drury

COY = Arseneault

DOY (dresser of the year) = Conger...in perpetuity

Any sentiments expressed against the pony-tailed one are lame, at best.  JeffP drinks red and black coffee.  His overall posting rate of negativity towards his team is less than 1%.  If he wants to express his frustration toward his team's effort, LET HIM.  If you don't like it, you probably shouldn't be reading this board in the first place.

Too bad the championship game had to be played at T. Fleming.  That's about as close as Knox is going to come to a championship anytime soon.

Speaking of Knox, don't forget to check out this must see:  http://www.breachmovie.net/

And, finally... The Roop: Next time, I'll be happy to pick up the tee-shirt for you.   ;)   (Hint: Use the Axe spray.)

HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

Why is it that every time I use the word "hottie" April makes it sound like I'm hanging around the Jr. High looking for a girl friend. What should the PC term be then "Aesthetically gifted" ?? I was just telling a story as requested by one of my many readers. In this case Mrs. Jeffdc. She couldn't be there but her husband did as he was told and let me know that I am to post more often. It's not as though I asked the t-shirt sales representative out on a date or anything, it never even crossed my mind.

Am I "biologically" old enough to have a son in college, yes. Is it realistic, no. Sophomore or Junior in high school is closer to the truth. Not sure if I should mention this or not, but I will. A few months back
I had to laugh at my dad because he bought some of the Axe spray. He's in his late 70's April, what say you ?? I don't mind getting dis'd from time to time so the "hotties" comment doesn't bother me. I just don't appreciate the running start she took though. LMAO.

While I appreciate your support Hoops I don't think I'm particularly interested in 18 year olds. Sharapova is 20 now I think.  ;)

WOW. I just checked out the bracket and still can't believe my eyes. Media darlings Hope and Calvin did not get byes to the Final Four. In fact they have to play at a Pool B (Aurora) in the same regional. I'm so upset by this that only Alyssa Milano can ease my pain.

Scots 4:

I am more optomistic than you on Carroll's(girls name) chances against Augie.  I think Carroll's quickness is very solid and they are welll coached.  They have played very well for the last couple of months.  I do worry about the augie bid guys, but am less worried about their guards.....Carroll has shown they can handle teams with good guards.  One other thing....Carroll shots a heck of a % fro the field.  If Drury is on(which he usually is) they hang right in there.

I think Carroll hangs right in with them and if the game was anywhere but Rock Island, I would give them a 50'50 chance.

Just my opinion.

The Roop

Carroll can certainly shoot the lights out and they will need to. The higher the score the better their chances but I don't think Augustana will allow that. A Carroll win wouldn't shock me but I'm not holding my breath for it either.
