Lake Forest- I disagree that coaches know everything about every other team. No coach knows what happens in other practices, who leads other teams, who is the true captain and all the other intangibles that make a team great.

Scots 4,
Give me a break...
i didn't say they knew everything about all the teams, the "pretty much" aspect was designated to exclude practices and any other secret society stuff that you have brewing in Monmouth, IL.  as far as the true captain comment it sounds like a personal issue that you might want to talk about more with someone more qualified than myself...
the comment on what makes a team great is taken with a grain of salt...
you couldn't name more than one player on LFC prior to the season and look at the results that they posted.  That is a great TEAM...

Congrats to Carroll,
(insert Minnesotan accent here)
keep it rolling up dere in da nortwoods eh?
If it were up to me there would be a 4 point line....

Congrats to CC tonight. Thats an excelent win for them and the MWC ( I know, stating the obvious).
Drury showed everyone tonight why he is this years POY and an all-american.

Nice article in the Beloit Daily news on coach Youngblood.

http://www.beloitdailynews.com/articles/2007/03/01/sports/sports01.txt

The article makes me wonder a few things however. In the article it quotes the coach as saying he had to call his recuits to let them know he wouldn't be their coach if they came to Beloit next year, however in the press release they state they had been talking to Cecil for several months about this move. My questions is if Coach Younblood knew several months ago that this move was coming, why would he have spent all that time recruiting high school kids to play for him next season. Is someone not telling the whole truth here? I mean if he had known at the beginning of the season that this was going to take place, this being his last year. don't you think he should have told the team and not led-on the recruits? Just something that made me go "hmmmmm".

Maybe Dolph knows the answer. He knows everything.

As I spam all the boards soliciting responses for the tourney preview, I can't help but think of Kimchi and Spam  :D ;D 8) ;)

I'd root for Carroll.  Aren't you supposed to root for your conference when your team isn't in it?  I'm sure Hope and Calvin would have something to say about that. lol

One question:

Why is John Tharp mentioned regarding the Beloit opening?  Does he have ties there?  If he didn't accept the IWU job, why would he go to Beloit, a team in the same conference as Lawrence?  Just curious...

I only do research when I actually care a lot or when I want to prove I'm right! lol.  ;D

If Tharp goes to Beloit, it probably won't effect my life much, though Lawrence's life will change drastically!  :P

Lake Forest......you have no idea what you are talking about. I wasnt insinuating anything about personal issues or anything and to say that is immature and uncalled for. Secret society stuff? Awesome dude. I'm sorry that I wasnt allowed to respectfully disagree with you. I couldnt name one player on Lake Forest going into the season? I could have named many players on their team as well with the other MWC teams. Dont act like I dont do my research and just post as an unknowledgable player.

Congrats to Carroll upon a big signature win in Rock Island. As I said over in CCIW Chat, I've been very impressed over the past few years with the job that Dave Schultz has done in Waukesha, where he's basically built a program from scratch. Regardless of how the Pioneers do up in the Twin Cities on Saturday, tonight's win is the sort of building block that will really come in handy with recruiting, as well as inspire confidence in next year's returnees.

Yes........... While I agree that the article was a very nice story but it was also just that, a story. For security purposes I can't disclose the workings of the NRO grapevine but once the team hears something I generally know about it in a week. So I've been expecting such an announcement since the Grinnell/Monmouth weekend. Sorry but the decision wasn't kept a secret and it did distract the players. Why not just announce Cecils promotion and end all the negative speculation that had been going on since last season. Everybody is happy that way.

As for the new coach.............. That's either a well kept secret or they don't have one lined up yet. I'm hoping it's a well kept secret although Beloit Colleges thinking doesn't always make sense so you never know. If you read into some of the things that Dolph has said it's obvious to conclude that the new coach is currently in the tournament somewhere. Kim Chandler has ties to the OAC so that is a possibility to consider. Then again I could be wrong and it won't be the last time.

Congrats to Carroll with the Big Win!!
This group of seniors really deserve this, they have been through it all for 4 years.

If you want to root for a winner, then root for Carroll. The MIAC had an accidental Final Four team in recent years and the conference has ridden on their laurels ever since. Roop Vegas says it will be an upset if Carroll wins by less than 11.5

Accidentally beat teams like Point and Hampden-Sydney before leading the entire game and giving it away to Williams.  Congrats to Carroll on the win over Auggie, but the run is over.

I am definitly eating crow for my pick of the Carroll-Augustana game. The crow tastes excellent though. My friend and I have seen Augie play at home the past two seasons a few times and we both just thought it would be really tough to beat them in that building. Many people have commented on other boards that the lack of students didnt create an environment. An environment?!?! You are playing in the NCAA tournament and if you can't get up for that then you should be concentrating on your studies and throw basketball to the side.

I'm not so quick to sell Carroll in the second round. In my pickem I had Augustana beating St. Thomas in Minnesota so I don't think there is any reason not to believe that Carroll can do the same. Rosefelt and Keating are both a ton inside and with the sniper Schnettler they form a pretty good 1-2-3 punch. I think the key for the game is the ability for the Carroll guards to get in the open floor and make Rosefelt and Keating sprint the length of floor every play. Also limit the second chance points for the Tommies and make thim hit their jump shots.

Good Luck Carroll!

The Tommies have found their early season form again of late.  They could be a really tough out, especially up in their building.  I hear there's quite an advantage there.

Also I pray for the safety of all teams traveling to and from their games this weekend as sports have been struck with tragedy today.

take it easy buddy,  i am sorry if i offended you. i know there isn't any tone in any of the post but please note the sarcasm. i was simply implying that LFC did not have any standouts returning from last years team and they came together this year and played well as a team.  there wasn't anyone looking to hog the limelight.  that is what made LFC successful.  i don't want to say anything about your "research" but i do recall you calling LF the worst team you played all year.

Congrats to Schultz and the pioneers again...and safe travels.
