Stop it.  My co-workers already think I'm nuts, I don't need to be howling with laughter out of the blue.  And the blank stares I get when trying to explain.........horrifying!

I'm in the same boat matblake...!  My coworkers just give me weird looks now, though... the inquiries about "what's so funny" have stopped!

Actually, she's got her own nicknames for you guys...  Tom, she calls you Old Town, and she calls Dave Swamp Monkey, or something like that.  Yes, she's poking fun at us, but it IS all in fun.

I found this totally hilarious.  I laughed my butt off on this post, luckily, I don't use a computer at work, so no one was there to stare at me!  I should start calling Dave Swamp Monkey!

Swamp Monkey might attract the attention of the PC Police, so I suggest "Wetland Arboreal Primate".

Yes and I have a cooler or two.

But the difference is that all of Pat's coolers are Colemans, no matter who made them.

Pat, there hasn't been this much attention on a "Coleman" here on D3Hoops.com for a long time.  You can thank me when you have time.

Does anyone know of any top recruits coming to any of the schools next year?  How does it look for Beloit's new coach?

So how bout this 3 pt. line deal...think it will affect the mwc???  grinnell???  I personally don't think it will have much affect because most of the shots taken behind the line are a foot deeper than it is now anyways.  %'s might be down a bit but I think it is a good move for the collegiate level overall.

Now the refs in the MWC will be really confused.   :o

After the change is implemented the only people taking 3s will be the people that are supposed to be taking 3s. So I would expect the %'s to go up as it did in the NBA for the same reason. This will also cause defenses to extend a bit further so you will see more points in the paint because of it.

Who's going to run the numbers on Grinnell?  Does the extra distance change the benefit to take only threes?

In chatting with the Maryville University (SLIAC) coach the other day, he made me aware that a frosh guard from the 2006-07 team, Tyler Saxton, will not be returning to Maryville, and hopes to "Walk on" at St Norb's next year.  He is from Wisconsin, I assume the Green Bay area, went to Preble high school as listed on the Maryville roster.

St Norberts is getting a good kid - I guess a little too far away from home to be 100% happy down here in St Louis.  He is small - probably only 5-8, 5-9 - good quickness, very aggressive, good ball handler - understands the game.  He started most games at Maryville for a team that searched for a starting lineup all season - usually as a point guard, at times as a number 2 guard, though he shot poorly as a frosh.  Just a great attitude, well respected and earned a very positive identity around the league though only a freshman on a team that struggled to win.

As I understand it, St Norb's was in a similar situation to Maryville this past season with many new faces after losing a big senior class the prior year - 2 starting guards are returning - but it will be worth St Norbs effort to see where Tyler Saxton might be able to fit in....

Green Bay Preble is one of the more well known programs in the state. If he played lots of minutes there then St. Norbert has quite a find.

Roop - in response to your comment regarding Saxton from Maryville's preseason writeup

Saxton, a 5-9 point guard from Green Bay, Wis., averaged 12.4 points per game, 5.7 assists per game and 2.5 steals per game as a senior at Preble High School and will battle for the starting point guard position.

I stand by my previous post. The name sounded familiar but I did not know specifics. If he was 6'2" he's probably at a D1 school right now. St. Norbert will enjoy having him there. Good for them.
