Since they never really advertise what their deadline is they can extend it all they like and no one is likely to know. I would also guess that most people have decided where they are going by now so extending it might not make any difference.

Beloit had their schedule out once but then it disappeared after a day or so.

I heard Dowden has decided to go to St. Norbert. Before BC hired the new coach he was talking to LFC. SNC just got alot better. Dowden can help them a bunch. He's a real competitor. I think he just realized that BC  has no chance of being competitive these next 2 yrs. and now they will have no chance of making a conf. tourney next year.

I don't think anyone can predict that far ahead, not even Roopadomus. I'm not guaranteeing they will make the MWC tournament in two years but a full year of recruiting will help greatly.  To make it in this year would require a 69 Mets type of performance however.

d3bbfan:

I agree the transfer hurts Beloit a great deal.  I am less sure that STN got a whole bunch better.   I have liked what I have seen from Dowden the past two years, but the two starting STN guards were freshman this past year and appeared to be just as solid.   They accomplished more without a big guy like Horton.  Unless the league is going to become a 6 foot and under league, I am not sure he makes a huge difference.  It is not like STN has a great front line and Dowden is the missing piece.

Also, if he transfers within the conference, he has to sit a year unless given permission..........has he gotten a release?  Are you sure you have the destination correct?

Fulfilling my NRO duties.

Rumour I heard was that Grinnell was going to the Iowa Conference and Edgewood was joining the MWC.

Finlandia was considered for the MWC opening created by Grinnell but they declined so they could play the independent schedule so they wouldn't have to share the proceeds of post season tourney winnings.  Apparently their AD is from Notre Dame.

Nut,

Is that specifically a MWC rule or is it an NCAA rule. I know that in the CCIW if you transfer within the conference you sit a year whether you have a release or not. I never heard of the MWC having something similar on the books. Either way I wouldn't expect Beloit, or anybody else in the conference, to put Dowden out a year just because they can.

T2K,

Nice one. There is a slight flaw to it but most wouldn't catch it right away. You get an A.

It's not an NCAA rule.  You don't ever have to sit out a year when transferring at the d3 level unless the conference has some sort of rule governing it (a la the CCIW).  I'm not sure if the MWC has such a rule or not.

Grinnell for Edgewood seems like a bad deal for MWC

That would be a shame to loose them....

Maybe I'm the only one that has faith in Coach Vraney....Go BUCS!

The Roop

I don't think it's a lack of faith in Coach Vraney. I think it has more to do with the fact they've lost 3 starters to graduation or transfer now. Horton can certainly take over a game and I think Wimmer will be approaching that level this year as well. The problem you get into after that is the fact they only have 1 other big man on the team, James Weber, and the rest are guards. They simply don't have enough depth in the post.

While there are concerns there's no way they battle Knox for the cellar this year, I just can't see that.

T2K, Set the hook I think you've got one on.

I have been told that it is a MWC rule.  I have no idea if it is generally followed or what the appeal process is.   I do think that given the lack of priority in general that the conference has on athletics that they would not put enforcement at a high level if the player is transferring for any sort of reason other than to transfer teams.   I would also think that if a player was thinking of transferring within the conference and b-ball was important that they would get it cleared ahead of time.

The WIAC has a transfer rule, but it only kicks in if you transfer after your sophomore year, I believe.

Maybe Edgewood for Ripon would  be a fairer trade for the MWC.

I stand corrected.

Better dead than red. I think Edgewood is green.

I just heard from the time traveling Bigfoots, whom build all the UFOs in the Bermuda Triangle, that the MWC will not be trading teams any time soon. T2K was just pulling somebodies leg. East of Omro Chapter President 1, West of Omro Chapter President 0.

I'm hoping my November cruise itinerary affords me the opportunity to visit that production facility when I'm in the area. Still no word as to whether my special invitee will be accompanying me.

I'm going to take a wild stab at "no" on this one.
