With so many LU kids from Wisconsin, do a lot of them make it to Deerfield for the games?

Which of their players are regulars there? Do any graduted players participate for LU?

fightin---

I am not sure of the LU players names as my area of concentration is the CCIW. I do know that most, if not all of LU's IL players play, as well as several from southern WI. I was also told that several of the Deerfield league players will either be starters or play significant minutes this season. From the parts of the LU games I have seen in Deerfield, I'd say the main reason they are being successful is a good mix of both inside and outside scoring. Keep in mind this is just a limited amount of observation from times of inactivity in the game I am watching that night. Unfortunately, I prob won't be at Deerfield this Thurs night when LU plays North Central.

As far as graduated players playing with the current team members---None---as graduated players are not eligible. They can form an alumni team, play with friends, etc, but once they have graduated, they can no longer play with the "official" school team.

I was out of town last Thurs, and I know its after the fact, but I just heard Lawrence beat North Central by 3 in OT last Thursday in Deerfield. HOWEVER, NCC's 2 starting forwards, 6'5" Chris Drennan, and 6'4" Matt Rogers as well as 6'5" Justin Johnson were unable to be there. Of course, LU could have had some important players missing also. You play "with what you got," but I'm pretty confident that the missing players would have made a difference in the final outcome. It will be interesting to see what happens if these teams meet in the playoffs. Hopefully, both will have their full compliment of players.

Not at all, Titan.

I was merely stating the fact that NCC was missing 3 of their top players. Actually, since that post I found out that a 4th player, who is 6' 7" was also not there that night.

I acknowledged the possibility that LU could have also had some players missing, and also that the missing NCC players were no excuse for the loss as you "play with what you got."

I have seen much of the summer league action and am familiar with the teams. Accordingly, rather than any type of apology, my post was meant more as praise for
NCC as the 5 players that were there for them must have played a heck of a game against a team which was undefeated and likely had more of their troops available.

In summary, there was no apology necessary, and I was not acting as an "apologist" any more than your post was further advancing your well earned reputation as an "instigator."

Sorry AndOne.

We'll see what happens next time we play.  Have a good season.

That involves too much reading to get to the point. So here it is.................

Brookfield East's Mike Armstrong will play basketball at Carroll.

Now that I think of it, Beloit has one of next years recruits on campus at this very minute. As I understand it will be a three hour tour, a three hour tour............ Yes, pun intended.

While no letter of intent has been signed, my Spider Pig sense tells me that Beloit will be getting at least one application from yesterdays visitors.

Roop,
I was told there is no such thing as a letter of intent at the DIII level. Just an application to the school
I'd really like to agree with you,but then we both would be wrong........

The Roop

Yes and no. I think there actually is one at the D3 level but not many schools bother asking their recruits to sign one. Typically you just hear a school announce that so and so has committed to attend there.

Maybe Pat can clarify.

Let me jump in here...

There is no letter of intent in D3.

I think that the corollary at this level is a paid deposit to matriculate in the incoming class.

Thanks to And One for the commentaries which follow.
