They probably did you a favor as the more tacos you eat in a car the bigger the mess.

Due to popular demand a second fishing charter has been scheduled for the Rooptanic stop in Nassau on 11/20. Two spots remain so there's a 50% chance to fish with The Roop. Bribery will greatly improve your odds. You can book your cruise at Royal CaROOPbean.com or just fly in to Nassau. You will need a passport if you fly however.

Roop:

Are there any fish in that river in Beloit?

That you can eat?

Does it ice over during basketball season?

I have some tip ups.

I don't know of any health advisories for the fish in that stretch of Rock River, so eat all you want. However, I don't recommend anyone to go ice fishing as it doesn't freeze that solid. The lagoon freezes well enough though so do your ice fishing there.

I called UW-O and asked for help with fishing techniques.  They told me TVD was on the wolf nailing the white bass and he'd be back October 31.

Enough. We get it. Hunting, fishing, whatever. You gotta get over whatever your problems are, and you have to do it somewhere else.

As school is about to start up in a few days, does anyone know what the freshman class looks like at Beloit?

Here's one that might be worth some debate, and yes it might be better on the CCIW board, but here it is.

The Carthage Red Men......................... The version I've always heard is that Carthage arrived at it's nick name because of the long time rivalry, while still in Carthage Illinois, with the Illinois College Blue Boys. I noticed something at breakfast this morning which caused me to question this theory.

A gentleman a few tables away from me was wearnig a Carthage High School shirt and it just so happens that Carthage High is also the Blue Boys. So did the nick name come from the rivalry with I.C. or did it come from the high school Blue Boys in the same town ?? Blue Boys in High School - Red Men in college, etc.

Carthage College people have told me pretty consistently that the school's nickname (which was actually spelled "Redmen" until a couple of years ago) was chosen in contrast to the nickname of the high school in Carthage, and that it has nothing at all to do with the nickname for Illinois College. I also remember reading somewhere that Carthage High School's nickname was a Civil War reference.

The Blue vs the Grey, I presume.

As we all know, Redmen changed to Red Men because of the P.C., or lack of, respecting our Native Americans.  It amazes me that the the North Dakota Fighting Sioux can't keep their name even with permission from the representatives of that tribe, yet we continue to call the NFL team, the Washington REDSKINS.

For those who've ever wondered what it looked like, you can get what I'm pretty sure is a small peek at the Saints Rest Coffee shop since Sen. Obama stopped there recently and posted video of the stop on his site.

No signs of jeffp on the video

It seems like Jeff's spruced it up a bit since I was there.  Perhaps he has more time on his hands now that he's not posting.  Too bad he didn't get on the video; it would have been the least Obama could do for him.

Jeff has either remodeled or has moved next door. Which he talked about the last time I was there. Leases getting re-done and so on. Since systemfan86 was the most recent poster there perhaps he can tell us.

Since Sen Obama was the focus of the video's it's hard to tell. It looks essentially like the place I visited last fall.
