So Carroll at GC on December 1st?  MWC Board gathering at The Rest say about 12:30-1:00??
I think I could make it.

I'm not saying no but I'll be fresh out of vacation days then. Any chance you could move the gathering to after the 1st of the year ??

Have a feeling that Augustus Karisch may be the "jewel" of the GC recruiting class.

Just remember if "Roop" makes the trip to GC, all must be on the lookout, because he's been known to "misbehave" out there in the cornfields of Iowa......and If I recall correctly, he had a little "snow storm" trouble during his last visit! LOL

The Roop

I'm not sure how you define "misbehaving" but the new Prime Citizen has not been named yet. So I think I'll behave however I want without consequence. Which is probably why I haven't named a new one. I did hear from a "well qualified applicant" the other day. Wanted to know if I could be her Prince Charming.  ::) I told her no because my bloodline isn't that impressive. However, I could be her Arch Duke Charming or possibly Count Charming.

FYI. Last year was the ice storm, the year before is when it snowed...........

Just curious, given that he's coming from Texas, how do you know about him? I did a Google search after seeing your post and he seems to have received some awards, but I wouldn't have known to look for him.

Another MWC conference stepping down...Heimann at Knox is stepping down at the end of the year and being replaced by a assistant (and Monmouth grad!). I know there aren't a lot of Knox posters on the board, so there won't be much of a response.

My question is with Knox, Beloit, and Monmouth all replacing coaches, how long can Gillespie hold out? I think he and Arseneault are now the gray beards amongst the MWC coaches.

The Roop

Even if Gillespie steps down as basketball coach he's still the baseball coach, athletic director and an associate professor. So he wouldn't be retired until he's done with all of them. If I had to guess I'd say that he'll be there at least until his son graduates in 2011.

In this case, from his travel team.  Was talking to someone who mentioned the kid was heading to a small school in Iowa to go to college and that his game was very well suited for their style of play

Well, December 1st is a go.  I mentioned it to the wife yesterday and she didn't even roll her eyes.  Might have something to do with the fact that it's my birthday.

So, short of a snow storm, I'll be in Grinnell for the GC-CC matchup.

Hoops,

You've either found a keeper or she wants you out of town that weekend for a spending spree. I will make an effort to attend.

Anyone notice that it took 3 (!) assistant coaches to replace Malinowski on the GC staff? Emil will be missed - he was a great contributor to the effort.

Word on the mean streets of GrinCity is that this year's team will be a surprise to the rest of the conference...
Threes are better than twos....

The Roop

Does that mean they will take turns coaching 45 seconds at a time ??

Roop, sorry The Roop (new year give it time to come back to me  ;))

When I was recruited by Coach Gillespie he told me his last game will be his son's last game.  But that was quite a while ago, and things could change.  Just some info for the good of the order, the NRO
